Did Taken really gross a lot? I guess it did. Trailer was pretty good. Better than the actual movie.

I remember how disappointed I was when I saw The Hangover. THAT was a summer Hollywood blockbuster comedy? The humor of the mainstream...I tend to not understand the appeal.

Hangover 1 was funny but wasn't one of the funniest movies ever like people seemed to rate it. Pretty sure i've laughed harder at plenty more movies these last few years.

The Total Recall steelbook from Wal-Mart is fantastic! I'm so glad they used the first poster with Colin posing as the cover!

Overall, the theatrical cut is better than the Director's Cut since all the added stuff was pointless, but Ethan Hawke's cameo was cool.

And if you buy the movie at Target, you get an exclusive bonus DVD with two 20 minute featurettes:

Thought the remake was very mediocre.

I thought it was just a big hit on DVD, but apparently: budget $25m, box office $226m. So yeah.

Agree completely. So subtle and subdued but brilliant.

To me the visuals are just as big a part of the overall story as anything else in the film. I could praise every single aspect of it though. For me it's easily the greatest achievement in film since the turn of the decade, and it wouldn't be far off that from the previous decade. I can totally see why it is really divisive though and people didn't enjoy it, or parts of it anyway.

Just as big? The images are everything to the film. You could probably never have a word spoken and you'd still get what's going on if you paid attention.

I will say that Tree of Life kinda got me back on the Malick train. I couldn't stand The Thin Red Line and The New World.

Might be good timing too since when 2013 is over he'll have made just as many films since 2011 as he had made up to 2011 lol.

I loved The Thin Red Line, top 3 war films ever for me. New World wasn't as great as his other stuff imo, but I still really liked it. The fact that his untitled project has Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, Kate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and Benicio Del Toro all in the same film is incredible. Malick's been known to totally cut people from final cuts though, so who actually ends up in it, we'll have to wait and see. Swear I read he cut Gary fucking Oldman completely out of Thin Red Line.
