Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I'll nab that up right now.

Finished Detention. To call if one off beat flick would be an understatement to say the least. It was much more than satirical jabs at standard high school slasher flicks. It had constant references to today's hipster trends, pretentious follies, numerous 80's & 90's references (mostly early 90's), elements of science fiction, etc. For better or worse, I liked it.

Manoel de Oliveira turn 104 today so in his honor i rewatched some of his flicks. The most awesome thing of all, is that at his age, he is still one of the best filmmakers in the world, and is able to make a movie every year (and has been in that level at least for the last 50 years). So yeah, happy birthday.

I'm 100% not joking when I say I enjoyed that more than the actual movie.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I believe that. I wasn't too crazy about Bane myself. I liked the movie though.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I liked Bane other than his voice sounding like something in a bad cartoon, the JGL subplot stuff and Batman in the Prison but the rest of the plot was kinda lame, especially the rediculous fucking "war" at the end was horrible. Its not a bad movie but Begins & Knight are both much better flicks IMO.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I thought the 'war' at the end was pretty epic although somewhat unrealistic. I can understand why others didn't really like it considering there are some plot holes. Still one of the best of the year.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

I wasn't expecting much of a plot other than the general legend its based on I already knew about. I just never thought it was a great movie. Its enjoyable but overrated stuff IMO.

Edit: Nevermind that was directed at Batman, not 300. Oh well applies to both.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

lol 300.

TDKR has it's appeal. I'd own it. It does rank the lowest for me out of the trilogy. As I stated, my favorite part was the very end. Thought the climax it reached and eventual lead in for the future was well done. The war was epic looking. Certainly had its plot holes. Although I got a kick out of a sea of cops & criminals brawling with two costumed bad-asses duking it out in the middle.

I do need to watch Batman Begins again. Been too long. Seen The Dark Knight far, far too many times to count. It's gonna remain at the top for me.

Safety Not Guaranteed finished in RAPID fashion. What's next...hmm. Thinking The Five Year Engagement only for BRIE SWAG.
