Inland Empire, Wild At Heart and Eraserhead are the ones I'm most interested in. Saw Mulholland Drive and liked it, but didn't love it. Needs a re-watch though.

Taxi Driver is better than Raging Bull for sure. It's one of the best movies ever made imo, definitely would be in my top 10 anyway, and it's definitely Scorsese's best.

Don't let that put you off Raging Bull though, it's brilliant. Mainly for DeNiro's performance, whereas Taxi Diver was just an amazing combination of everything.

Nahhh, Von Trier doesn't know how to make a simple take without fucking it. That and he likes to complicated things for the sake of complicated it.

And lol the movie being dedicated to Tarkovsky...

Luckily, every day more people seems to forget him

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Only seen two Von Trier movies and they both ruled. Maybe I just got lucky... a lot of his movies don't appeal to me though.

Taxi, Bull, Fellas and Comedy all masterpieces from Scorsese. Bull is massively overrated and Goodfellas massively underrated by film scholars and the like though.

For some reason I had a dream that had Tom Hardy dressed up and Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. He was fighting Batman.

The firsts movies from Von Trier are ok, nothing really great. And the Dogma 95 was one of the worst thing to happen to cinema EVER. So i don't know how to rate them.

About Scorsese i don't seem to feel a great gap of quality between his work but i think that Fellas and Bull are a thin overrated, Bull because is more serious and trascendental (the thing that the american critics seems to love) and Fellas because is the gangster movie, even then both of them are awesome movies. I like more After Hours, Age of Innocence and The Last Temptation of Christ than both and Casino more than Goodfellas.

But yeah, Taxi Driver is the best Scorsese movie without a question.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II

Age of Innocence is good, not a patch on the unbelievable source novel though. Seems like they get too caught up in establishing the period to capture the real anguish of the story. Day Lewis is remarkable as per usual however.

The two Von Trier movies I've watched are Festen and The Boss of it All. I enjoyed both immensely.
