Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Saw the new Denzel Washington movie Flight and it was solid. Denzel was great acting as the drunk/junkie pilot. John Goodman was hilarious as his dealer friend. I enjoyed the story of a man getting caught up in his addiction and the dueling story of him being a hero who did the right thing but his personal issues were his biggest enemy.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
For some reason it's taken me all these years to watch the Hostel series.
Poor compared to the Saw films but that being said, the 2nd one was 10 times better than the 1st. Watching the 3rd tonight.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
I definitely think the word pretentious is way overused, and often it isn't even in the right context. Just because a film is an 'art-film' doesn't mean it's pretentious. People will throw the word around at something like The Tree Of Life which I absolutely adored or any other Malick film, or a French movie like Holy Motors (I haven't seen it yet though, so I can't comment really) just because it's a slightly more challenging film than what we normally get out of Hollywood.
Sometimes being pretentious isn't even a bad thing anyway, for example...Buff Bagwell enjoys being called pretentious .
EDIT: Ironically I think this post might have been a bit pretentious

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
Speaking of art films, did you guys know that there are some people who consider Michael Bay a misunderstood auteur? And I don't mean geeks like Skyfall I mean some critics, theorists, and some highly respected art film experts/professors.
I'm sure all of you will laugh, but at least The Rock was awesome.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
That's the first I've heard of it. But yeah, The Rock was good. Everything else is terrible though.
Also, @ the geeks like Skyfall part.

The Dreamers. That's all that needs to be said about Eva Green.

In Time was fucking stupid. It had the potential to be decent but the whole Time Currency gimmick was so whored out by the end of the first hour I stopped caring.

You also don't like Cast Away. SO, yeah. You are a cock

Not yet. Hoping to make it to that screening. hoping for an awards screener, though.

Re: General Movie Discussion Part II
No comment
Actually just watched Holy Motors...It was amazing. Definitely wouldn't have anything against anyone that didn't like it though. For the first half I wasn't sure, but by the end I realized what the film was doing/saying (imo, I'm sure other people might take something else from it) and I ended up really loving it, but I won't bore you art-house hating Ragamuffins with what I got out of it.
I do feel like watching a bad Nic Cage movie after it though.
