Do I need to see Quantum of Solace before seeing Skyfall?
nope, only all the James Bonds leading up to Daniel Craig (if you really want to enjoy it).
I saw Lincoln this morning. First off, Daniel Day Lewis is amazing; just get that out there before this mini-review turns into a slobber fest. The movie is long and slow, what I expected; but there isn't any real comedic breaks anywhere or huge scenes (there are these but they don't feel huge) to seem like stuff is getting done. I feel like the book (which it's based on) would be 100% better than the movie (minus DDL).
also, JGL and DDL are in the same movie. Awesome! It might get a nomination for Makeup and best adapted screen play (can't see DDL winning again, sadly), but won't win anything I figure. the movie just kind of...is.
Hey, Rosamund Pike is attractive. Nothing wrong with that. Oh and the other good thing about Die Another Day is the opening, which is actually really awesome. Too bad the rest of the movie falls apart as it goes on.
So...End Of Watch was great. Gyllenhaal and Pena are class in the lead roles, so much chemistry between them. The bad guys didn't have much to them at all, and the fight scene near the start wasn't really necessary and felt kinda' forced, but apart from that it was a brilliant cop drama. Definitely recommended.
I saw Evil Dead for the first time tonight (saw 2 quite a bit). It was actually really good. I feel like watching it initially, the effects would still come off as cheap; which actually makes it great. Pretty gruesome too, can't wait for the remake now.
