Re: Most disturbing movie you've seen?
Probably the movie Seven for me. Was on cable one day so I decided to watch it hearing how great it was. Once I finished it was on my mind for Weeks. All the deaths were horrible but Lust just couldnt get out of my head, its great that it was offscreen because man thag death would have been gruesome to watch. The whole movie was fucked and great but the Lust death was awful.
After that maybe Hostel but it wasnt thag bad. Ive heard of 3 guys 1 hammer and will.never watch that. Not because how disgusting or scary it is but how evil it is and the fact that its real.
2 girls and a cup is disturbing but fucking hilarious, ive had friends watch it cuz I didnt know bout it until a year ago.

Megan is Missing
In particular (only really) the last 20 minutes or so, there is one particular shot which I'm not ashamed to admit scared the crap out of me

Dead Ringer. Both intellectually and visually disturbing. Cronenberg is a genius.

Re: Most disturbing movie you've seen?
Supposedly 'disturbing' scenes generally don't get the intended reaction from me, especially when they're in horror movies. Silly amounts of gore have zero impact and I find them laughable at times. It's the way those moments reek of desperation, like the director has no idea how to get a reaction by subtler means and is sitting behind me in the theatre, leaning over my seat, saying, “Look, aren't you grossed out yet? It's a rape scene, with dismemberment!”. That said, sometimes it works but, on the whole, I prefer creepy or shocking over bloody. What I find disturbing is more apt to be random scenes than an entire film.
A few examples that made me cringe:
- the appearance of Zelda from Pet Sematary
- when needles are pushed into Aoyama's eyes in Audition (I'm squeamish about eyes)
- the audiotapes played during Session 9
- turtle death in Cannibal Holocaust

My gosh, you just took me back. I saw that film when I was 9 or 10 and that twisted back woman scared the fucking hell out of me. I also remember for a good while after the film being afraid to not wear socks when I was standing near a bed that had a space beneath it. Because socks would have protected me from a small zombie boy with a scalpel slicing at my heels.

Human Centipede... never got around to seeing the second one. Also, Final Destination 5 was WAYYYYY over the top. Never EVER cringed in a theater until that. Other than that... the most comically disturbing is this movie called The Room. Disturbingly terrible. Haha.

Some of the best, unexpected scares are in the 60s-90s films. The thought of finding Zelda in a bedroom at night is the stuff of nightmares. The boy with the scalpel too; you just reminded me of that! Thinking about him lurking under the bed gave me the shivers. Now I may have to get a copy of that movie to watch for nostalgia's sake.

Re: Most disturbing movie you've seen?
"The Human Centipede" will haunt me forever. Haven't gotten around the sequel but I'm probably too terrified to, I hear it's even more graphic than the first...
