He might have been filled in with what happened by Gordon, Blake or whoever else knew that Kyle was involved with everything that went down.

Plus he did know that Bruce liked her from all his investigations that he carried out on her before they had their man break-up.

Also his fantasy was of Bruce happy with a family, or a woman at least. He would have learned that Tate was Talia, plus Rachel was dead, so the only female he could possibly have inserted into the fantasy was Selina Kyle.

Blap.

are ppl saying what Alfred saw was in his mind and not real. This wasnt like the ending of Inception where Nolan left the choice for us on how it ended. Alfred clearly saw them and there were hints that Bruce is alive, The Bat Signal, the auto pilot being fixed months ago and the location for Blake to find.

I plan on seeing it monday. im hoping DKR is the type of movie i could watch again without being uninterested though. I saw Avengers twice and could have easily saw it 2 more times. i know the Bane fight will have me marking regardless though.

I like to make my own interpretations at times and what your saying is plausible but I like the message of Bruce & Selina starting a new life together, a clean slate, and Alfred actually not failing. It would be sadder though if Alfred was just dreaming to cope with the loss.

No, LC said she preferred to think of it that way, because for it to have been real would have been too much explanation instead of leaving it up to our imaginations.

I liked that idea and thus tried to justify it, by explaining it in a way where that scene could well have been Alfred's fantasy - chief evidence being he didn't act surprised. Considering what a wonderful acting job Michael Caine has done, no way would he fuck that scene up. He acted it the exact way Nolan wanted him too. He wasn't surprised because he has had that fantasy many times. Selina Kyle was in it in the last scene because she was the only feasible woman Alfred could imagine Bruce with.

That Bruce isn't dead is in no doubt.

lol nah, I'm the only one that I've seen say the ending scene with Alfred was all in his mind... a fantasy so to speak. The literal interpretation of that is clear that he saw Bruce. I don't like to look at it that way though. Am I wrong? If the ending is to be taken literally then yes I'm wrong. But I can interpret it as I see fit

It's both. Bruce and Selina did go off together, but Alfred imagined them in the cafe. He would have known about them, his liking of her and her involvement with everything that went down. She was the perfect woman to insert into his fantasy.

Re: Hope is lost, faith is broken...The Dark Knight Rises - July 20th, 2012 (SPOILERS

The mayor was clearly blown up in his box seats during Bane's take over of the stadium. Some people apparently missed that part. And I think the people were a little too freaked out by the atom bomb to spend time crying about the mayor's death.

As for the ending at the cafe...I think it was necessary not only to clearly show Bruce is still alive, but also to show he and Selina are together and happy and all that. I think maybe they should have put that scene after the credits though. I think the scene also shows that Nolan may be more open to a sequel than he's been letting on.

no you arent wrong. i understand wanting to see it that way. ppl call the ending fitting to the trilogy and stuff but honestly if it were really Batman he wouldnt leave Gotham ever. Maybe he was just taking a well deserved vaca then came back.

I wish they just could have done a Mass Effect ending and had Bane take a breath at the end of credits. im seeing the movie again but im just setting up myself for how upset i was with how Bane got killed.

Anybody felt that maybe when he was flying the bomb away you were gonna see a red and blue blur appear and save Batman before it exploded to set up Man of Steel and a Justice League movie.

haha Soupman, that never even crossed my mind. I think in this particular universe Superman doesn't exist.

I wonder how Gotham handled the impending Tsunami that would have happened after the bomb went out.
