The trailers looks incredibly (for lack of a better word) EPIC!
This will be the first Batman film i see in the cinema as i didn't see the first 2 until DVD release. I can't remember when i was last psyched up for a film this much.
IMO it's going to be a battle to the death for Film of the year between this and The Hobbit.

I think Batman has the edge due to it being the final in a trilogy. Hobbit is just part 1.

i saw it
batman died in the end in the final battle
and then it turned out he was simply faking it, and he actually escaped and ended up spending the rest of his days training kids underground. until a really, really terrible sequel in 2001

Obviously Letterman was joking.
And the Legend Ends line could mean a lot of things.
Batman could just retire from injury, be replaced by another hero(ROBIN), die, etc
