The Dark Knight Rises was a bloated, overlong, exposition-riddled, poorly directed, poorly written borefest adored by pseudo intellectual campus dickheads who... if they were to be really honest, couldn't tell you what it was they enjoyed about the movie.
The first 40 minutes especially, are a good example of exceptionally shit screen writing. Doesn't bode well for Man of Steel with these producers and writers.
Just watched The Dark Knight Rises & then The Avengers the other night, originally I had Batman as my film of the year but, now I feel that The Avengers is the best movie. It's a tonne of fun, what a superhero film should be.
TDKR is still good but, after all the little things in it that annoy me, Avengers takes the crown.

Re: FILM OF THE YEAR 2012
I should make a revised list but the most recent movie I watched was called Killer Joe with Matthew McConaughy and its one of the better films this year and McConaughy was freaking excellent in it. Its a pretty fucked up movie. It would probably make my top 5, maybe even top 3.

Dark Knight Rises is the FOTY for me. Seen it 6 times already and never gets old.
My film of the year is either Dark Knight Rises or Skyfall. I also loved the new Total Recall as well.

I honestly thought your critique was referring to The Dark Knight, as it fits perfectly and addresses all its many flaws. Rises is a much better film.

Me too. There's nothing artistic or memorable about Tarantino's films - they are only popular because they are somewhat edgy and ultra violent. These crude elements mask what a mediocre director Tarantino actually is.
