Re: FILM OF THE YEAR 2012
Les Mis will suck balls , just throwing that out there.
After some more consideration...
Beasts Of The Southern Wild (10)
Holy Motors (9.5)
Argo ( 9.5)
The Dark Knight Rises (9)
Safety Not Guaranteed (9)
The Imposter (9)
Rust And Bone (8.5)
Amour (8)
End Of Watch (8)
The Avengers (8)
Expecting The Master, Life Of Pi and maybe Killing Them Softly to enter in there somewhere and knock off the bottom 3 from my top 10.
Even then, the top 7 are films I genuinely really liked - loved, and I want to own all of them on dvd asap. that hasn't happened since maybe 2007 in terms of having that many films in a year I liked so much.
Other stuff I've seen off the top of my head...
Martha Marcy May Marlene (7.5)
Once Upon A Time In Anatolia (7)
Skyfall (7)
Looper (7)
Take This Waltz (7)
The Amazing Spiderman (7)
The Hunger Games (6.5)
Prometheus (6)
Cabin In The Woods (6)
Sure I've seen other stuff but I can't remember right now so they can't have been very good tbh.

But it has Russell Crowe and Wolverine singing, what's not to like?!
Still, as for my best film of the year. I really don't remember watching that many films that have come out this year. Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Avengers, Expendables 2. So, yeah. Not a fucking lot. But it's a toss up between Skyfall or Avengers for my favourite.

Re: FILM OF THE YEAR 2012
I'll watch Les Mis. Could be fun. Or really trashy. Like Nine. Who cared about that musical?
Prometheus enters my top 10 list for now. The Hunger Games does not.

Re: FILM OF THE YEAR 2012
So, The Hobbit was great, thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably the most purely enjoyable film of the year for me. 8.5/10, so yeah, straight into my top 10 which I really didn't expect.

End of Watch ~ 8/10
Prometheus ~ 8/10
The Hunger Games ~ 5.5/10
Chernobyl Diaries ~ 2/10
Moonrise Kingdom ~ 8/10
John Carter ~ 0/10
Revised list.
Top 10 list sits at:
1) The Cabin in the Woods
2) Seeking A Friend For the End of the World
3) Safety Not Guaranteed
4) Chronicle
5) 21 Jump Street
6) American Reunion
7) The Dark Knight Rises
8) End of Watch
9) Moonrise Kingdom
10) Prometheus
I'll be the only person who puts American Reunion in their top ten. It was pleasantly excellent, imo. If it wasn't for 21 Jump Street it would be the best comedy I've seen all year. Not counting the satire of the ever excellent Cabin in the Woods.
