Agreed. It's just a gimmick.
I've enjoyed a few movies this year, including The Dark Knight Rises, The Bourne Legacy, Snow White & the Huntsman, Total Recall and Prometheus. So I don't think it's been that bad, by any stretch.
Still need to see Battleship.

Seriously? Prometheus was awful. Visually, it looked great, sure. But the writing was fucking poor. Wouldn't even put it in the top 10.

Did The Grey come out in 2011 in the United States? That's my film of the year, but if that doesn't count, probably Looper (very good overall) or the Amazing Spiderman (probably not the greatest but it was fun and a lot better than the original).
