re: Breaking Bad Thread (NO SPOILERS OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD. INCLUDING SIGS & CHATBOX.)

Just watched Season 4, episode 8: ''Hermanos''. Probably the best episode of the series so far. Loved seeing a bit of Gustavo's backstory and now I completely identify with the man. I didn't care much for Gus at first, just thought he made an excellent villain but now I sympathise with him a lot. Seeing that happen to his best friend has to be the reason why he's such a cold man. Everything has become clearer now and its quite symbolic, ''los pollos hermanos'' represents the pair, as well as the two chickens on the sign. Gustavo and his partner also run parallel to the partnership between Walt and Jesse and they are both extremely similar in their loyalty to each other. I think this is the reason why Gus has decided to start taking Jesse under his wing as well, he respects Jesse's loyalty and clearly sees part of himself or his partner in him, which one though I have no idea.

re: Breaking Bad Thread (NO SPOILERS OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD. INCLUDING SIGS & CHATBOX.)

Just finished season 4 and I agree guys it is the best season. I loved Gus's demise it was all very fitting with Hector being the catalyst for it as well, and whilst Gus walking out straightening his tie was unrealistic I still loved the scene, it captured Gus perfectly. I'm not sure how I feel about Walt poisoning Brock as I've actually been rooting for Walt and after seeing Walt and Jesse's relationship grow I think it kinda ruins it. Loved that sentimental moment between the two at the end though I would have preferred a hug to a handshake. Despite Walt poisoning Brock I still think its very clear Walt cares for Jesse deeply, perhaps even loves him as a son. Anyone agree?

Also right at the end, are the two chicken mascots for Los Pollos supposed to represant Walt and Jesse? That's the idea I was given.

Doubt if he will be able to put the cuffs on Walt, after that conversation they had about The French Connection back in season 4.

Edit - Thanks for that video King Kenny. Great stuff.
Keep in mind how he is getting all that shit at work from his boss over these continued operations and the fact that Hank's boss lost his job over being too close. Well, Hank is even closer to Walt.

Walt does think of Jesse as a son, but also doesn't mind putting Jesse in situations where he gets hurt. Till the poisoning of Brock, I think Walt did everything he could to protect Jesse. It has changed a bit now.

I did bring those points up in an earlier post. Hank will have to do something despite the hold Walt will have have over him and without involving the DEA. Hard to guess what his next move will be.

re: Breaking Bad Thread (NO SPOILERS OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD. INCLUDING SIGS & CHATBOX.)

He does put Jesse in them situations but Walt also places himself and even his own family in dangerous situations he wouldn't normally be involved in just to save Jesse. The ending to half measure comes to mind.

Also regarding Jane's death. Do you think Walt let her die to protect Jesse from her influence, or because she was a threat to Walt? And do you think Jesse will ever find out about Walt's involvement?

Excuse my blatant fanboy obsession for Jesse/Walt but I just think its the most intetesting relationship I've probably ever seen on film or television.

re: Breaking Bad Thread (NO SPOILERS OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD. INCLUDING SIGS & CHATBOX.)

Think Walt let Jane die for both reasons. It helped to free Jesse from her and kept Walt safe too.

Yeah Walt was watching out for Jesse till the end of season 3, but since season 4 he has been manipulating him a lot more for his own purposes. Not saying that Walt doesn't care for him, he just doesn't have much regards for Jesse's feelings.
