Dexter is great because when the season is over, you feel it. Breaking Bad never seems to end. When a season premieres, it doesn't feel like a premiere at all.

^ so what? That makes it even better, it has a much more powerful story that will only really end in the last season, until then little plots and enemies end but you're always excited for the future cause you know the craziest stuff is yet to happen.

I like having a conclusion. There's nothing wrong with a followup. But when a film or season ends, I want it to feel like an ending.

After watching the finale again, I realized just how much trouble Hank is in because of Walt being Heisenberg too. His previous boss got the boot for just being an acquaintance of Gus. Hank can't afford to have anyone at the DEA to find out that his brother-in-law is an international drug kingpin. Highly doubt he will involve the DEA at all.

What's the point in having a conclusion if it's going to carry on?

So where would you rank the other 'classic' shows based on that? The Sopranos, for example, was that broken up enough, or did it just feel like one story? What about The Wire, where each season continued the previous but with a new theme introduced?

I can understand having different opinions, but praising Dexter for having almost individual seasons or appealing to different demographics as time goes on doesn't actually touch on the quality of it. Surely that's the most important thing? Although you would be hard pressed to find many people at all thinking the last year of Dexter was better than any of BB's seasons.

what would have been an ideal ending for you? Season 3 had a pretty good ending with Gale dying, that ended any chance at the moment for Gus to kill Walt, and it was a really intense scene. Season 4 also had a great ending, their main enemy, Gus Fring dies. Then Season 5, It didn't really have a 'enemy' that Walt needed to kill, but it had a good conclusion with Walt finally reaching the tip in his meth business and Hank finally figuring out who Heisenberg is, oh and it was a mid-season finale anyway. So yeah, what would have been your ideal ending instead of this?

Didn't care for Sopranos (although I too young at the time to appreciate it.) Never seen the Wire.

Just watched the ending again. 'Ya got me'. Fucking hell, it actually sent a chill down my spine. I don't know if it'll be my favourite show ever by the time it's done, but there just isn't an active show on TV that compares.

Pretty cool how they shot all the prison killing scenes.
