So Gatiss is the banker. Interesting. I assume he'll have a scene in King's Landing, since it's too soon for him to get to The Wall. (And iirc a banker goes to visit cersei or someone in storm)

Yeah, and that's basically the only scene he's going to have. The funny thing is, in the books, the representative of the Iron Bank that talked to Cersei wasn't Tycho, it was Noho Dimittis. Obviously, they are just going to merge both characters, and I'm fine with it. They're just minor characters that can easily be merged without problem. I bet lots of people assumed immediately that Tycho was Noho when he appeared in ADwD, so yeah...

Regarding the cast for this season, am I the only one who's getting irritated by the amount of recasts they're doing? Now, I don't know if this one was already officially confirmed, but basically everyone believes Daario has been already recast! I mean, he just appeared in the show, and he's now going to be portrayed by another actor, when the original actor is still very fresh on everyone's mind. If Daario appeared only in the first season and then disappeared, only to reemerge now, in Season 4, then ok, it's understandable, but he just debuted and he's already been recast. Non-book readers/casual fans are going to be confused as hell, probably even theorizing that Daario is a faceless man. Then we have the "Mountain" being recast AGAIN. 3 different actors have played the Mountain. Thank God he's going to die! And then we have them recasting Tommen with an actor who already appeared in the show, portraying a Lannister. Yeah, it was very brief and no one is going to even make the association, but come on, recast a character who appeared in all seasons with another actor who already appeared on the show?! Shaking my head... The problem here is that I don't even see a reason to recast the character. Even though Tommen is going to be a more important character from now on because he becomes the King, his number of appearances/relevance are not going to increase that much. At least they didn't in the books. He just appeared from time to time, nothing really major, he wasn't that active is what I mean. Not to mention that he's now going to look much older, when the whole point was him becoming King when he's still a little kid, who's favorite occupation while being King is sealing documents with the royal stamp, who names one of his warships Moon Boy, and threatens to outlaw beets. I just can't see this working anymore with the new actor, and that's my problem with it.

Tommen recast is a bit understandable though. I believe the recasted actor is like 16 turning 17 this year. The other one was like 8. It'd be really, really weird when the 8 year old has to have scenes with Margaery who is being played by an actress who is 31 years old. It's still going to be pretty weird but at least in a few years he'll be 18.

And the Daario thing is confirmed. They recasted him. I'd love to find out one day what happened. Because, it'd be difficult to believe he chose to leave on his own for something else, and by all accounts they liked his acting. Also from what I've ready the Dany stuff starts taping shortly, and they've already had their script read throughs in July. So they recasted the character only like 2-3 weeks before filming starts, and the new guy doesn't even get a chance to do the read throughs with the people he's acting with. So something have great significance seems to have happened to cause them to dump the old actor so fast and out of the blue.

Rupert Vansittart has been cast as Yohn Royce. I'm excited for them to finally get back to The Vale after only a brief appearance during Season 1. I believe that Littlefinger, Sansa, and The Vale will have a big part to play in the upcoming books.

This is interesting because Bronze Yohn Royce was only mentioned in A Storm of Swords, only reappearing in the next book, A Feast for Crows. Clearly, they are going to start adding some sub-plots from future books into season 4 already. I truly hope they don't start to fuck things up. From what I've seen, I'm not really liking the way this is going. Too many recasts already, some of them completely unnecessary and with terrible timing, adding things from future books which can mean they could possibly cut some things from the events of ASoS, someone mentioning book fans will not really be pleased with this season or something to that effect, changes they already made in the previous season like Jaime Lannister arriving in King's Landing before Joffrey's death...

Yeah, I'm a little worried.

Fat Walda has also been cast. (Rooose's wife). Think I hear a rumour they might be in King's Landing for Joffrey's weddng, but could be just a rumour. (I'm fine with more Roose, anyway)

I mean, you can't say the recasts were unneccessary without all the details? Have you seen the new mountain? He looks fucking great, much better than Season 2 Mountain. Hell he's not going to look that different than Season 1 Mountain -- and considering he'll be in armour for most of it, it'll be fine. He brings the much needed physicality to the role.

Daario and Tommen are unfortunate, but Tommen will barely be noticed, I think.

And they'll be bringing some AFFC stuff in Storm, anyway. That makes sense, so Yohn Royce thing isn't so bad.

Mostly concerned with how they hope to introduce the Greyjoys. Thought for sure we would get the Kingsmoot called this season, even if it doesn't appear until next season.

Gatiss is the banker, aka Tycho Nestoris? That dude is persistent and has to be a badass.

I have read a few things online regarding the 4th season. Now first though, I'll just say I have no idea how anyone would know this, unless they work for the show and are leaking the info. But here goes:

First, Kit Harington is shooting nothing in Iceland this season. He's Ireland for 95% of his story. The other 5% will take place in Split, Croatia between September 20th and October 10th. Which coincidentally (or maybe not) is when Emilia Clarke shoots her scenes. Clarke is the one heading to Split, Croatia between those dates. What the hell is Kit Harington doing for only 5% of his story which would seem like barely anything in Croatia of all places? The Mountain/Red Viper duel started this week. Arya/Hound story and Brienne/Pod story were mostly shot in summer months in Iceland. And finally, one book change they say will take place is Sansa is going to poison Joffrey and not Olenna. Also appears, Roose Bolton and his wife (who seems to have been casted) will be in King's Landing for the Purple Wedding, and interacting with Sansa and Tyrion.

So there you go. Is any of that true? It's out there, so I figured it's worth a post because some of it might wind up being accurate. Who knows.

If these turn out to be true, then here we go!

Another casting announcement:

Quote:
Irish actress Jane McGrath has revealed in an interview with IFTN that she has been cast in season 4 of Game of Thrones. No exact role was given, but she did say that she is playing a wildling.

No confirmation, but slap a wig on and this must be Val right?

Dalla is likely to be skipped. The only interaction Jon had with Dalla was when he first got to Mance's camp. By the time he gets back she's already dead. So it would appear she's out. It also seems doubtful she is one of the women left at Craster’s Keep. I don't even think they'll go back to that. That's probably done with. So it basically leaves Val. Who else could it be? She's the right age (for the show version) and Val is going to be needed this season.
