I know everybody prefers Arya because she's a scrappy action girl, but as far as being a real character I can feel for and identify with, Sansa takes it.

Sansa was my favorite character in Clash of Kings because she had the best chapters.

Although STANNIS is in that book too. Stannis is a BAMF

Sansa isn't a Stark. She's a Tully. Nothing wrong with being a Tully as long as you're not Edmure.

None of that makes her interesting or entertaining in the slightest. Don't like her at all.

I can't fucking stand Sansa. That being said, I do feel sorry for her every now and then until I remember I can't fucking stand her then all is well again.

Sansa was like 11 or so when the series started. Cat fucks up at times, but you can't expect her to teach Sansa how bloodthirsty and back stabbing southern politics are at that age. As far as Cat knew, they'd never even go to King's Landing, much less Ned Stark, the Warden of the North, would be executed by a moron king.

Robert Baratheon, Ned's de facto brother, was the king, and there was no reason to believe anyone could take it from him.

The Tyrells did. Cersei, in flashbacks and memories, seems to have learned about palace intrigues young. It's sort of expected for the Northerners to bumble all around and do honorable but politically unwise things, but everybody else knew how to play the game from basically birth.
