Id recomend the books to anyone. Great characters, an amazing story and wonderfully written.
The only problem with the books is the wait for the next one. Already dying to read Winds of Winter even though we have minimum 2 years to wait.
Cant wait for season 3. So much epicness in this book and the show just gts better and better.

Re: SPOILER *all five books* THREAD FOR Game of Thrones (TV series discussion)
I wonder if we'll get a whole episode dedicated to the duel. I think it'd like that. Sort of like Blackwater, ala the one setting. The build up, oberyn volunteering all that. It might work better with them cutting away. "Do you know who I am?" "Some dead man" <cutaway> to Bran chilling and doing something boring with the reeds.
Still, yeah. Expecting this season to be GOOD.
Edit: And really Ned's death is much more shcoking than Robb's, I think. I don't think it'll cause mass tune out - just a lot of rage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owf6D2vfZqM

They killed my ..... Ned!
The problem with Robb vs Ned is that you really feel things will be ok with Robb, and then *WHAM*. Ned you could see coming, but hoped it went the other way. Robb tho, damn. He got played HARD.
I can't WAIT to see the fan reactions of when Joffrey dies. That will be something special. It might even carry people through book 4 on TV...

Since they're splitting ASoS into 2 seasons though that will probably not be until season 4 which is next year at the earliest. Some people might not come back after Robb gets killed.
And I still say Joffrey was such a great villain he made the series worth reading. Its hard to hate Tommen.

Re: SPOILER *all five books* THREAD FOR Game of Thrones (TV series discussion)
This website: http://hbowatch.com/wedding-scene-co...on-3-spoilers/ says that the wedding between Tyrion and Sansa will appear in episode 8 of Season 3.
That's an interesting place to put it. In that case you'd have to imagine the Red Wedding will be the 10th and season finale episode, no? It'd be strange to push that event to say the very next episode, episode 9.
That's also kind of late in the season for their marriage, and I'm assuming because of that, some things involving Tyrion post marriage will be excluded.
Same website I linked seems to indicate Jon Snow's ending point for season 3 is his return to the wall, based on some of the wall actors only being needed for less than a week of filming.

Agreed with TKOK that Ramsay more than makes up for the loss of Joffrey. Ramsay is probably the only truly evil character in the series and for that reason is probably the best villain.

That's the problem with short seasons, or being forced to go slow because the slowest author alive can't keep up. The Red Wedding would make for a PERFECT mid season finale, but not a season finale. There's no rousing son to get behind this time, like with Ned. It's a chance, for sure. Granted, we all know better, but the casuals might not.
Tommen is hard to hate because he just cries and whines, but doesn't do anything really bad. You can dislike him, but loathe? Nope. At least Cersei is still around...

People who hate Tommen have no hearts. His father is dead, his crazy despot of a tween-age brother may or may not have molested him and certainly did terrorize him, he's basically a pawn, and he seems to be a good, sweet boy who loves kittens.
I will cry a bucket of tears when he meets his inevitable, prophecy-decreed fate.
