Re: SPOILER *all five books* THREAD FOR Game of Thrones (TV series discussion)
But what significance has Gregor's death had? Was there any rwal need to have him killed, just to be resurrected as a Frankenstein's monster. Had he survived his ordeal with the Viper then it would have absolutely no impact on the plot. There's got to be more to Qyburn than just this. An agent of the Others perhaps? Or possibly worships them.
My theory on who/what the Others are = What Catelyn Stark has become. The Other's were once part of R'hllor's religion but fell in battle and were given the kiss of life, and have become what they are now. The Great Other = the first one of these to openly defy R'hllor and rebel against their former religion, thus why the Great Other is referred to as R'hllor's arch enemy. It also reinforces Martin's idea that The Other's aren't just totally evil(everythings not black and white), just like Lady Stoneheart isn't evil. Yes she is a complete bitch and will totally commit some fucked up things, but she has a motive, reasons and in the heart of all, she is essentially a good person.
