I don't think you could call Robb an idiot, I mean he is a fantastic military commander, and won every single one of his battles - he takes after Ned so much. Yes he was a fool for betraying the Freys, but it's not really betraying; Walder Frey is just a dick. Several characters even say, Jaime and Tywin Lannister for example, that had Robb not fell in love with Jeyne that he would have easily won the war.

Personally I believe TWoW will start with the Other's invasion pretty early and it will all be wrapped up by the end of the book. The final book will detail the rest of politicking over the Iron Throne. We'll get Jon leading the united forces of the North (Nights watch, Wildings, Stannis's army, the North's bannermen, possibly even the some of the Iron Islanders) and marching south to deal with Dany and her army (Dothraki, Unsullied, Golden Company, Dorne, Dragons, Tyrell's and Tyrion.) And voila we have a final battle on the Trident.

As for other things:

We'll get one last meeting between Jaime and Tyrion, it may not be a happy reunion though. But I do think Tyrion will finally tell Jaime that he wasn't the one who killed Joffrey.

Rober Strong is gonna defeat the Faith's champion, and free Cersei and Cersei. Aegon Targaryen is going to storm Kings Landing with the Golden Company and the Martell's and take the city. In the process killing Tommen, Tommen will have his head bashed against a wall ironically. Cersei will retreat to Casterly Rock and that will be how we first see the Rock.

Darkstar is revealed to be the son of Brandon Stark and Ashara Dayne, or possibly even Aerys the Mad King's son after potentially raping Ashara. Darkstar will find Myrcella and kill her, then make his way north to King's Landing.

Brienne is going to take Jaime to UnCat and her new BwB. She will set her champion against Jaime, Jaime will prevail after his training with his left hand, to everyones surprise. UnCat makes Jaime swear an oath that he will find Sansa. Jaime sets off for the Vale immediately. In the meantime Cersei learns this is the location of Sansa Stark and sends Qyburn and Robert Strong to get rid of her once and for all. Whilst a certain Blackfish washes up on the shore of the Quiet Isle and a certain Gravedigger overhears that the Blackfish intends to go to the Vale as he believes that is where he believes Sansa Stark is in hiding, and this Gravedigger decides to follow the Blackfish there. Voila, Bran's dream in the very first book comes true, we get the Jaime/Sandor/Gregor confrontation in the Vale.

Mance Rayder is definitely not who we think he is. He knows too much off the world south of the Wall to have been some infant boy that the Watch find with a group of Wildings BEYOND the Wall. He is too educated, he is too cultured, it is said multiple times by several character's that Mance possesses a skill with a sword unparalleled by any other at the Wall. There is no possible way he could have became this good of a swordsman at the Wall. I have danced about with a few theories on who he could be and I've came to a few different conclusions, but my current idea is that he is Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning and the greatest knight to ever live.

Stannis Baratheon will fall in battle with the Others, whilst Ramsay Bolton will become the new Night's King.

And of course, Jaime is going to kill Cersei by strangling her with his golden hand.

Just a few idea's I think might happen, and if they don't, would be pretty cool.

Also, my own personal preference for the overall ending of the series would be:

''And then Jaime Lannister, sat atop the Iron Throne, and he waited, to see who would come and claim the realm.''

For Arthur Dayne to be alive, Ned would have to be in on it, would he not?

Yes he would. There is a passage in the first book where Catelyn warns Ned of Mance Rayder and his Wildings and Ned replies with ''We have nothing to fear of Mance Rayder.'' We know Ned was a friend to the Watch and a big supporter of them, if the Watch felt Mance was such a big threat, why did Ned think different? Take it for what you will.

Ned definitely didn't want to kill Dayne, and we know Dayne's ''death'' still haunts him. Mance also has a particular interest in Jon, there is almost a fatherly bond between them. If R+L=J then surely Dayne would have some sort of emotional investment in Jon as he protected him at the Tower of Joy.

I do think that there could possibly be a Ned prologue or epilogue chapter, before his detah whilst he is in the Black Cells, revealing all of series secrets to us. Or Bran could find out through the Weirdwood's, similar to how Harry Potter found out Severus Snape's true allegiance through his memories.

I've started a reread of the series, forgotten just how much I love the books and how Martin writes

I really don't know how I want the whole series to end, I'd love Tyrion to finally get Casterly Rock after returning to Westeros on the back of a dragon. I personally do think R+L=J so him married to Dany on the Iron Throne would be awesome and Rickon taking his rightful place in Winterfell.

The idea of the ending of the series being Jamie sat on the throne waiting to see who claims the throne, I'd love it in a way but then it would drive me insane wondering who did claim the throne haha

The only problem with ending this series is how do you put anyone on the throne in a way that makes you feel like they're gonna keep it? Even Dany with armies and dragons is only a couple dedicated Faceless Men away from a dirt nap.

I kinda want a Bolivian Army ending with the Others.

I like TV Stannis a lot more than book Stannis. I wonder if that will make me feel different on my next pass through the books.

I agree. Stannis the Mannis. Ramsay claims to have killed him but I don't think he did. I think Stannis and Tyrion are the only two characters I'd be sad for if they died.

Also...why are all the Martell's such morons? Oberyn could have won the trial by battle...didn't because he wouldn't shut up. Quentyn tries to tame the dragons and fails miserably. I am actually surprised he survived the dragonflame burns for a few days though. I thought dragonflame burns meant insta-death. Arianne is a bit too ambitious...I guess Doran is the only one with a head on his shoulders. Those Dorne jokes have some substance to them after all.

Wait, Ser Arthur Dayne = MANCE?

Can't see how this could be. I think Dayne had violet eyes and light hair, but as I remember it MANCE is very ordinary looking with graying dark hair. Remember the guy is a bard and we don't know where his travels took him after he deserted his post. He doesn't have to be the Sword of the Morning to be a great swordsman.

Ned and Howland somehow killed Ser Arthur Dayne at the Tower of Joy. RIP

As for Martells being morons, it remains to be seen. Quentyn was just really naive. He was the wrong guy to send on such a dangerous mission. That's on Doran; that was a dumb call. Not sure who in this story tames those pissed off dragons save maybe BARRISTAN THE BOLD. Everyone else dies there too most likely. Oberyn got caught up by his emotions.

You raped her. You murdered her. You killed her children. Say the name! Say it! She was Elia of Dorne.

Pride and wrath got the better of him and it cost him his life. It's not the first or last time a character's flaws cause their death.

As for being dumb, people are too quick to judge after the fact. Is Tywin an idiot for getting murdered by his son? He should've never fucked with Tyrion. I mean the family words unofficially are "A Lannister always pays his debts." Tywin was a fool for playing with fire.

People make mistakes and in this world, like the real world, there are sometimes dire and deadly consequences. In other words, just because people make mistakes doesn't make them idiots. Now there are smarter characters than others of course, but there are few I'd call idiots.
