I need some inspiration for some drink ideas- we're gonna have a Game of Thrones drinking party in a couple months. I'm thinking something with mead somewhere, maybe for the Tyrells, and I found this great rum called "The Kraken" for the Greyjoys, but I'm drawing a blank for a lot of others. What the hell would the Starks drink?

For anyone who owns Dance with Dragons...can you check if the book has a number line? It should be a countdown "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1" on the copyright page. Basically, if the countdown goes to 1 it means you have a first edition. I'm pretty sure all hardcover editions of the book are first edition since the book is relatively new but I just ordered the book and I want to be able to check if it's first edition.

Lets keep this thread alive. Recently just re-read the series again, and it has invigorated my love for Jaime Lannister who is hands down my favourite character in the entire series, with Sandor being a close second. Though I do still love Theon, most well written and complex character in the series.

Jaime, as valonqar? Pleaseeee, it is your destiny Jaime!

Just thought I'd also sum up my favourite characters as well.

Favourite 5, in order:

Jaime Lannister
The Hound, Sandor Clegane
Mance Rayder
Theon Greyjoy(GOT-ACOK) Basically his douche character is what I loved about him yet he still had many layers.
Euron ''Crows Eye'' Greyjoy
Jon ''Griff'' Connington

Honourable mentions: The Blackfish, Robb Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Ramsay Bolton(Amazing villain), Littlefinger, and of course everyone's favourite, Ned.

The 5 best WRITTEN characters, in order:

Theon Greyjoy(As great as he was in AGOT-ACOK his story development in ADWD is fantastic, absolutely fantastic)
The Hound, Sandor Clegane
Jaime Lannister
Stannis Baratheon
Mance Rayder(he is not who we think he is, mark my words, there is lot more to Mance than meets the eye, trust me.)

So basically, mostly my favourite characters haha.

Anyone who wants top continue discussing this series, then please step forth, my love and passion for this series has taken me over once again.

Mr Mister I'm looking at you.

George RR Martin said it won't be out in 2013. He said he has 400 pages done of which only 200 are ready ready.

First off, Arya, Bran, Catelyn, Jon Snow...most boring chapters in the entire series. Let me get that out of the way.

Worst character in the books: Catelyn. She's worse than Cersei as far as I'm concerned. She hates Jon Snow just for existing and that's something I can't forgive her for. Robb Stark = idiot

Most entertaining chapters to me: Tyrion, the Greyjoy chapters, whatever chapters involved Davos and/or Stannis and whatever chapters take place at King's Landing. I agree that Theon's chapters are well written "My name is Reek it rhymes with freak"---love that

As for the rest of the Greyjoys...they are the most unintentionally funny family of all time. They all hate each other and it's awesome.

Bran I agree with. Arya and Jon Snow have awesome chapters tho. Not a big fan of Catelyn but her chapters usually detailed interesting moments in the story so I am cool with her.

Oh boy is UnCats face gonna be red when she finds out Jon is really Neds nephew, not bastard. Oh wait, too soon on that bad joke?

I need to re-read 5 (blasted book is out on loan), but a lot of it seemed pretty slow or crappy to me. I felt like a lot of it should have been condensed down somehow. Maybe I'm still in post Book 3 euphoria/shock.

My big problem is how it will wrap up/converge. All the politicking in the world in Kings Landing won't be crap if a swarm of Others come down from the North, which means that a lot of stuff was pointless. And if the Others get easily rebuffed by whatever reason, then *their* buildup will have been wasted. And how does Dany fit into all this? Who knows.

I admit I am very curious to see how the story ends though. The only problem is with the amount of real time in total, and in between books, it's hard to keep fans happy, because we all want something different, and very few people will be completely satisfied, no matter the ending.
