You know, I never expected Asha/Yara to be hot in the first place. (Same with the idiot seawife. They went easy on her in this show. The book made her do something pretty nasty, and she was annoyingly following Theon for most of that chapter.)

I mean, sure, she supposedly upgraded from where she was, but I don't think they made her seem like Cersei at any point, and Theon was way more into her personality during the trolling.

So yeah, I thought she was more of an example of "hot via personality/swagger".

I'm really struggling with Davos in the show, he looks nothing like I pictured him and I'm not sure if I can get past that.

On the other hand, Patrick Malahide isn't how I pictured Balon but I couldn't have been more wrong about him.

Mark Addy looked nothing like Robert, but he was great. Nicholaj Coster-Waldau looks nothing like Jaime but he's great. Charles Dance looks nothing like Tywin but he's great. Sophie Turner looks nothing like Sansa but she's great. Michelle Fairley looks nothing like Catelyn but she's great. Liam Cunningham looks nothing like Davos but so far he's great.

Obviously it differs for you, but I don't see the problem.

Same here physical beauty was never one of Asha's qualities. Pretty sure GRRM describes her with a kinda big nose. It doesn't even matter though.

What you say is true but, like a lot if people, I watched season 1 without having read the books so I had no preconceptions. Since then I"ve read them all and have a clear picture of several characters, Davosin particular who in my mind looked like Andy Serkis (it's worth noting that I pay little attention to the descriptions given by authors and come up with my own)
