Chris might be my actual favourite character on the show atm. He was always funny with his enthusiasm and eager personality, but now he's adding the deadpan facial expressions that would make Adam Scott weap with bliss and he's just stealing every scene he's in. His nice and attentive personality also lends itself extremely well to the emotional scenes where it feels authentic. That look he gave Andy when the Police Chief told him Andy wouldn't be accepted onto the Police force was just brilliant and his follow up speech in the Wedding episode was even better. Agreed on the gift he gave Ben being superb in its simplicity but meaning.

Holy ish are you kidding me!? When I heard you talk about the "first series' I didn't get it since I was under the impression that Charlie Brooker only made 3 episodes of Black Mirror and dropped the project. Just had a look on Wikipedia now and

Love love loved the concept of the show. You're right, it's very dystopian-like, and delves into the consequences of our own technology in the future and how it'll drastically affect society. Reminds me a lot of the Twilight Zone in structure, which I think is what Charlie was aiming for. Always thought the show had great potential with it's overriding theme.

Jumping on those new episodes now.

Is Black Mirror any good? Or is it shite like cocksucking Dr. Who?

Black Mirror's awesome, just really understated creepy surroundings.

The first series was good but the last episode of series 2 on last week was incredible. the ending got me thinking about what i'd just watched for the last 45 minutes. Some episodes are like Charlie Brooker's version of 1984 and his slanted vision of the world out there. It's brave TV, well brave for British TV. Watch it.

Also Doctor Who rules

I think it's good, they make very good use of the budget they're allowed.

It's a hard show to judge since every episode is distinctively different from the other, almost as if they were made by completely different people (which is true in a way, they have more or less different people working on each episode with Charlie overseing the whole thing).

What I love about the show are the themes brought up, it's not a perfect show by any stretch, but if you're familiar with Charlie Brooker's work, you'll find many parallels with this and his critical views. Think of it as a non sequential show much like Twilight Zone where none of the episodes connect in any way, but share a common theme. I've only seen 3 episodes so far, and while not all of it blew me away I definitely see the potential this has if it remains on the air and gains traction.

Impossible to hate any character on that show.

Except for the intentional antagonists such as Jamm.

I didn't realize the discussion about Black Mirror was still going on!

Blarg is toally right when he compares it to The Twilight Zone. A mix between that and the book version of 1984 is what best describes it. I'm still not sure which episode is my favourite out of all the ones so far. The great thing is there hasn't been a single bad one yet. Anyone that's enjoyed this show but hasn't checked out Charlie Brooker's other work should do so now. Especially 'Dead Set' which is great.

It's awesome to see some love for Black Mirror. The only time I ever spoke about it on here was with WOOLCOCK a few weeks ago while recommending tv shows. When the first 3 episodes initially dropped it was super obscure, but it seems to be picking up steam now which is great.

Did watch all the episodes of Dead Set. Loved it even though i've never been huge on running Zombies. It's very much the Walking Dead predecessor in many ways only with a touch of added British humor. That scene in the first episode with Pippa and Patrick locked in the room had me

Too bad it was just a mini series.

Ok seems like I really need to watch Black Mirror now. Facebook now here. Sounds like my kind of show too

On another subject, anyone seen Jericho's new show, Robot Combat League? I saw the first episode on the syfy website today and loved it! I really like the concept.

Saw the episode with the politician and the pig, but completely forgot about it since (moved out of the UK so I don't get the same news reports etc). Just had a quick look into it and loved this from Wiki:

Quote:
Charlie Brooker explained the series' title to The Guardian, noting: "If technology is a drug – and it does feel like a drug – then what, precisely, are the side-effects? This area – between delight and discomfort – is where Black Mirror, my new drama series, is set. The "black mirror" of the title is the one you'll find on every wall, on every desk, in the palm of every hand: the cold, shiny screen of a TV, a monitor, a smartphone."
Engage Black Mirror marathon.

Make it so.
