I didn't give a shit about Nick, but Frank was great, one of the best characters on the show period.

The Wire needed slightly more Wee-Bey.

Not saying he wasn't important because he was but hes not a character I look back at too fondly.

The Sobotka's were great, especially Frank.
I liked Stringer's backstory really. Growing up with Avon and reaching the heights they always wanted to. He just thought he was better than the streets and forgot how to play the game. Quite tragic. Kima's only problem was choosing between an annoying girlfriend and the job she loves. She had a pretty happy ending too. Liked the characters who had sad or bittersweet endings the best.

I eventually came to hate both Vic Mackey and McNulty both. Mackey was a hypocrite and a terrible husband and McNulty was just a drunk and in Season 5 after pulling that fake killer crap, I thought he had totally lost it.

My fave characters on Wire were Bunk, Omar, Marlo and Kima. I couldn't stand Herc from Seasaon 3 and on, he was really not a great cop at all, just love to bust heads but he ruined that boys life cuz of his stupidity.

I'm just about to finish The Shield. I haven't turned on Mackey, he always was kind of a bad guy but I actually think hes got better toward the end of the show.

What you guys think of Carcetti?? I've read quite a bit of hate against hit character getting too much screen time and all, but IMO he had maybe the best character development of the whole series. Also he was pretty ambiguous, which added to his character.

Also loved Proposition Joe and Clay Davies was a boss

Yeah, his development was really great. You dislike him at first, then you like him little bit, but at the end you hate him and realize he's just one of them. Great, great character.

Clay Davis was a boss, yeah. One of the true gangsters of The Wire (w/ Levy, Royce, The Greek & Valchek).

Btw, who would win this war - season 1 Barksdales vs. season 4 Stanfields? It would be rough. Just imagine Wee-Bay taking on Chris and Snoop...

Hard to say, the Stanfields were much more vicious IMO. And we do get a bit of a war between Avon and Marlow in Season 3, Marlow seemed to get the best of him in that account.

Marlo had such a luck at the end of season 3, Slim Charles could kill him easily, he was just waiting for Avon's confirmation, but Avon gut busted.
