Nope, never got around to sitting down and going through it sadly. Figure it'll be my next show after I go through Deadwood, though Justified and The Shield are also tempting me a hell of a lot.

Took me multiple times to get through the pilots to both The Wire & The Shield but once I got going it was pretty easy to get hooked. Been watching a lot of Psych lately, its pretty fun shit its nice to see a cop show not take itself seriously at all.

I tried watching Boss and couldn't really get into the Pilot. i guess political drama's are not my thing.

Anyone watch the U.S. Shameless? Not sure if I should get into it, but naked Emmy Rossum sounds convincing.

The US Shameless is really good and Emmy Rossum naked is good times as well

Proud supporter of PWG, probably the best wrestling company in the universe. Probably.

I watched The Shield every week from the pilot till the end. Great show but there never should have been a seventh season, they should have wrapped it up in season six. The Wire was also great all the way through.

re: TV SHOW discussion thread (NO FUCKING SPOILERS please)

I may eventually give Shameless USA a watch, I have to confess I'll go in with grim expectations because for me the whole setting and philospohy behind the original show in the UK is something I don't think America can capture as well, it would be like the UK's version of Law & Order on ITV: it was just pitiful because it would never compare/feel organic as the original American counterpart.

Shameless was all about a council estate family, in a proper working class Manchester Council estate, and the wild and insane interactions between the residents and the police force etc. But on top of that they had a great family around which the series was based, you felt connected to a lot of the characters facing issues like being a closet homosexual, their mum walking out and leaving them, their dad being more interested in benefit fraud than raising his kids etc. It just felt so organic and realistic, with America the closest representation of the chavvy/low low low working class culture in the UK Shameless would be rednecks, and for me what Shameless originally stood for extends far beyond a stereotypical white trash trailer park. Again maybe the writers will do the show justice, but I'll be amazed if the American counterpart manages to connect with its characters and visual representation of the culture we live in as well as the early episodes of the UK show did.

That being said the current UK Shameless is horrific, somewhere between series 5 and beyond they slowly moved into being a pardoy of themselves and a lot of the wacky/surreal interactions with some of the residents don't feel as organic anymore and just come off as them trying to play to some cliche they've created: 'ohhh yeah how can we make a drug dealer look anymore scummy this week' etc. I really think they should have ended the show when they slowly began to break up the Gallagher family: the only current people in it are The Dad and the middle Child Carl, and he's certainly not as good a character as Ian, Debbie or Liam.

re: TV SHOW discussion thread (NO FUCKING SPOILERS please)

Finished Homeland last night (SPOILERS AHEAD). I liked it more than that Welsh prick above me. Definitely my favourite show of last year. Carrie sort of came across as a pain in the ass for the first few episodes, but I grew to sympathize with her as the season went on. The end of the second last episode where she's all weepy faced and trying DESPERATELY to convince David not to strip the wall of all that work she'd gone loopy (or loopyer) putting together was really great. She totally nailed it once the whole bi-polar thing went south.

Last episode with Brody sweating buckets and turning white as a sheet as he contemplates whether or not to flip the switch was some TENSE shit. Damian Lewis was fucking incredible the whole season. Him capping Walker at the end was COLD.

Best part of the season was Walker tying up some old lady, occupying her apartment so he could shoot important people, then casually walking away and ruffling old lady's hair like she was some kind of pet. What a boss. Shame he got shot in the head.

Glad there's going to be a second season. There were parts of the first season that made me think it might be a one and done deal.

If you didn't have Moody in your sig you'd be on my shitlist by now you degenerate boozehound.

But yeah, Homeland is still my favourite show post 2010 but hearing all the praise probably made it incredibly difficult for them to live up to expectations: those two scenes Andy talked about near the end of the season were both incredibly well done.
