the pilot for Rome did 3.8.

the pilot for Game of Thrones did a 2.3 iirc, although by the end of the series it was up to 3. Game of Thrones had a strong showing in the way it was able to continue growing in its fanbase, but it wasn't massively impressive or anything, especially if you had compared it to boardwalk empires start which was getting close to 5 million viewers.

GoT should be able to increase those numbers based on the positive reactions and publicity it got. Hopefully the quality of the show stays strong and they can hang on to new viewers.

Rome & Deadwood were critically praised shows too. Deadwood in fact i'd say is the better show between GoT and Deadwood.

with only one season, its a little too early to judge on GOT, but Deadwood is still the most tightly written show i've ever watched. very few shows top it on the quality bar.

Fair enough but if someone asked me if they should watch season one of Deadwood or season one of Game, i'd suggest Deadwood.

Deadwood is better and I'm a total GoT/ASoIaF nut. GoT fell flat sometimes. Benioff and Weiss did a good job, but the fact is it could've and should've been better than it was. But it's David Benioff. He's not exactly the most visionary nor talented guy in this business. He actually did something better than anything he's ever been involved in so there is that too.

The scene that really fell flat was when Arya killed that Kid, one of the most intense scenes in the first book and it stunk.

The fat kid? That seemed fine to me, but then again I haven't read the books.

Also, Aidan Gillen makes my heart warm with his smugness in almost everything he is in.

AMEN @ Breaking Bad what a great, solid TV show. Just finished episode 10 of season 3, trying to get to the last episode that has premiered from season 4 which will take a bit of effort.
