Re: The Book thread.

Been reading a combo of A Feast For Crows and a Dance With Dragons. man it's one hell of a undertaking to read. No wonder it took him so long to write the damn things.

Re: The Book thread.

I bought Survivor and Choke by Chuck Palahniuk yesterday, looking forward to reading them soon, and I bought 'the 500' by Matthew Quirk, they all seem interesting.

Re: The Book thread.

I'm currently reading 'Killing Moon' by N.K. Jemisin after having read her 'Kingsdoms' trilogy. So far, it's been a blast, though the 'Kingdoms' were a little bit better.
As soon as I'm finished, I'll be starting book two of the Dresden Files. I found the first one really good.

I agree. I was super excited for her new trilogy, but the first one was tough to get through and the second one has been sitting on my Kindle for awhile now untouched. I'll try it eventually, since I remember not being impressed with the first Kingdoms book the first time around either... but there are more interesting things on my list right this second.

Someone talk to me about Malazan. I tried to pick up the first one a few years back and set it back down after a few chapters because I couldn't get into it. When it picks up, is it more gritty/dirty fantasy, or epic fantasy, or character-based, or what? What series is it most similar to in tone? Pretty much everyone I know pretty much creams their panties over those books so I'm finding it hard to get a valid answer that isn't just "JUST READ THEM THEY ARE AWESOME" and whatnot.

Re: The Book thread.

Just read 2/3rds of Greg Rucka's Walking Dead in one sitting. That guy is an awesome author. Atticus Kodiak is a boss, hope he comes back although i'm not sure what else can be done with the character.

I've wanted to read the Dark Tower series since I've first heard about it, but have never come around to actually doing so.
How far into it are you? How is it?
