As soon as I'm finished, I'll be starting book two of the Dresden Files. I found the first one really good.
I agree. I was super excited for her new trilogy, but the first one was tough to get through and the second one has been sitting on my Kindle for awhile now untouched. I'll try it eventually, since I remember not being impressed with the first Kingdoms book the first time around either... but there are more interesting things on my list right this second.
Someone talk to me about Malazan. I tried to pick up the first one a few years back and set it back down after a few chapters because I couldn't get into it. When it picks up, is it more gritty/dirty fantasy, or epic fantasy, or character-based, or what? What series is it most similar to in tone? Pretty much everyone I know pretty much creams their panties over those books so I'm finding it hard to get a valid answer that isn't just "JUST READ THEM THEY ARE AWESOME" and whatnot.
