Wow, did I write Incantations instead of Incarnations? D'oh.
I haven't read the Chroma books and I can't say your really selling me on the idea either. LOL.
Yeah, don't. :P
Rereading the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. Love these books. Wish they could somehow get made into a show or movies, but I think the visuals would be too hard to do.
They got optioned at one point but it expired. He's shopping them around again right now. I don't think anything will come of it soon but I do think they'll eventually get made into movies. CGI gets better all the time, and there's enough action in the books to draw non-genre fans to see the movies.
I love the first books but feel the series went downhill then. 2nd book is the weakest i think.
the vin/elend love story is kind of lame and it feels kind of...bleh.
i loved the spook pov's in the 3rd book a lot, and found the ending...eh..well idunno how I feel about it. there were some good things in the 3rd book and some i didn't like. the earring coming back to play a part was nice.
oh and did you read the next book in the series? the one set in the future. alloy of law? it's pretty fucking good.
Alloy was awesome. I know a lot of people thought it was trite but it was kinda meant to be that way. Loved it. Also, I agree the 2nd book was pretty plodding.
have you read the way of kings or elantris by him? elantris is fairly horrible, cliched and predictable in every single way. it shows his improvement a lot as a writer.
way of kings looks to have serious potential to be *really good* imo.
I loved Elantris.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel.
I also really liked Warbreaker. WoK has a lot of potential but I'm not going to try and judge it until a few more books are out and I can really get a feel for the world and the characters.
Also, speaking of Sanderson, SO FUCKING EXCITED and sad at the same time for aMoL to come out! <3 WoT
