Re: The "Book" thread.

Come on, any love for Animal Farm? Or just George Orwell in general.

@Postage: Yeah I know, I was just joking. I do actually like Cather in the Rye though a lot.

EDIT: Absolutely redeadening. I love Animal Farm. Orwell too of course. It does annoy me that dumbass conservatives (not all conservatives are dumbasses for the record) cite Big Brother and socialism when Orwell himself was a democratic socialist.

Orwell was a huge believer in socialism. Going so far as to fight in the Spanish Revolutionary war against the facists. But what he saw there must have a had a profound effect on him. From what I saw in the few chapters in animal farm, the man remained a believer in socialism. As evident from the success in the animal revolution and improvement in life. What the man is clearly against is the communist representation of socialism under Stalin and other dictators' rule.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Right, Orwell is warning against totalitarian rule not socialism. It's how a great thing can be corrupted by a few greedy bastards.

In the end, the pigs were identical to the humans, sitting side by side.

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

I was thinking about downloading that on my Droid the other day, is it a decent read?

I still can't believe he has been sober for five years. When he was on the George Lopez show he was definitely a lot different than he use to be.
