Re: The "Book" thread.

What Jaime did sold me on the first book. What happens toward the end sold me on the series.

Re: The "Book" thread.

I bought No Country for Old Men for three pounds the other day. This has become a new hobby of mine - buying books and then not reading them. Loved the first page of this one so reckon I may actually get through it.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Seen the movie? Its the most accurate adaption from book to movie i've ever seen, they only changed two things and both are minor.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Yep seen the film. Loved the first two acts, didn't love the third but everyone keeps telling me that I need to watch it again. I found the transition from second to third act very disjointed and awkward particularly when I was so invested in the Llewyln character.

I also thought Tommy Lee Jones's final monologue felt very forced and was a little pretentious.

Re: The "Book" thread.

What was pretentious and forced about the final scene? I missed it.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Dunno it felt like something that had been slapped on to win brownie points for Oscar voters. Obviously it was an adaptation so that wasn't the case but that's just how it felt.

I've just seen that the film is on you tube though so in a second I'm going to give it a rewatch and maybe reevaluate my opinion on the final half hour.

Re: The "Book" thread.

finishing up My Booky Wook by Russell Brand. it's been a pretty good book, he's a solid writer. he has a good way with words, and his exaggerations and sarcasm is silly and light, entertaining stuff to kind of even out how depressing this book sometimes is. overall, a good venture into the life of one fucked-up individual.

i heard the second one is coming out soon, i'll probably have to check it out.

cool and smooth, that's how i play.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Rusell Brand seems like a cool enough person to hang out with / talk to etc but I really don't find anything about him to be even remotely amusing.

Spoiler for jaimie:
what he did did make me more into the book, i actually thought Bran had died. the meaning behind that qoute got spoiled for me cause i was on wikipedia and in the first sentance of her bio it was like "has a incestuous relationship with her brother" was like "" i need to stop doing that, ruins the books.
