Re: The "Book" thread.

Hitchhiker's Guide the Galaxy immediately came to mind rated y2j11. I'm told Terry Pratchett is humorous too, but I've never read any of his stuff. I don't usually read just for comedy so I'm tapped out I think.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett is hilarious. Anansi Boys by just Neil Gaiman is pretty amusing too. Fat Charlie was just a great character and the supporting cast was hilarious as well. I just finished reading it and I really enjoyed it.

I don't really look for comedy too much when it comes to books though so I can't help besides that.

I'm reading a book by Wilbert Rideau, it's about a black guy who killed a white woman in the south and spent over 40 years in prison for it. It's been very interesting and I love the whole, "Can I believe this guy? Should I really feel bad for him?" aspect that goes with reading a book written by someone that openly admits to killing someone.

Re: The "Book" thread.

If you want funny read Terry Pratchett, really, really good writer. Only read some of his books but I'd reccomend him from them. (Guards, Guards in particular was excellent)

American Gods was better than Anansi Boys I thought, too although both are good.

Never read that. I have read a decent amount of King stuff. Read The Stand if you haven't yet.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Everyone has read The Stand.

Two other books I really enjoy are Needful Things & Cell.

IT is my favorite however.

Re: The "Book" thread.

Of his novels that I've read, I think IT is the worst. Dark Tower is good until it sucks with Wolves of the Calla and beyond. The Shining and The Stand are my two favorite.

Some of his best stuff, however, are his short stories collected in Night Shift and Skeleton Crew.
