Re: The Book thread.

Joe Abercrombie, first 3 are actual trilogy the next ones are stand alone books set in the same inuverse. They are pretty good, except for Best Served Cold, that got boring.

They're "blood and piss and rape" grit fantasy, if that's your cup of tea.

Well he likes A song of Ice And Fire, and that's got a lot more rape than The First Law.

For sure, it's pretty much the same category of stuff, only aSoIaF has a lot more plot in between rapings (imo).

I just like to ask, because not everyone likes super gritty stuff, and a lot of people tolerate it in aSoIaF due to the overall quality of the storytelling but find they aren't a fan of it otherwise.

Re: The Book thread.

Unless i'm majoring overlooking something, i don't recall any rapings in The First Law, it's been a real long time since i've read the books though.

I'm almost done with Feed, ending shocker threw me for a loop.

Re: The Book thread.

Finished "Blood Oath" by Christopher Farnsworth.
This book series features Nathaniel Cade, a vampire who has been in service to the office of the President of the US for the past 140 years. The book introduces him, as well as Zach his new human "handler". I picked it on a whim - I was desperately looking for something new and I had no time to look around. By luck all 3 books so far were at my library that day.

I am pleasantly surprised. This book is well written, and I am looking forward to the next ones. Tonight I will start the 2nd book, "The President's Vampire". This appears to be a very promising series. The author is a Hollywood screenwriter, or so says the bio on the back. It reads almost like a movie, which also enhanced my enjoyment I suppose. Will say more as I read the others.
