Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Seeing how the last thread was all about spam and raising up post count and not about actually listing which movie you saw and giving some feed back so someone else could get a good grasp of what the movie was about, I thought having this type thread would work much better and create good quality discussion towards movies.
Do not just post the last movie you saw, post a mini review about the movie so others can get a good enough grasp about the film and also rate it on a 1/10 scale.
I’ll start it off so people now what is expected…
American Gangster:
Even though this film had a running time of over 2 and half hours, I’d say it needed to be longer, maybe even a mini-series like the Godfather. Chiwetel Ejiofor is really underused, and we don’t really get to know the rest of Richie Roberts 70s version of The Untouchables, only being briefly introduced for them. Maybe with more time there also could've more of an examination of the moral quandary that should've been the heart of this film. Because Frank Lucas in many ways isn't much different from many other entrepreneurs who made their own way with their own code of how things are done, but the movie seems to want to have its cake and it eat too. It celebrates Lucas' rise as something boldly American while lightly condemning it.
7/10

30 Days of Night
I like vampire movies to begin with so my expectations are a little lower than those who don't like the genre. I found the acting to be above par and the writing, while very good at times lacked alot on the ending. I'll give the movie a solid C. A better ending would have pulled it up a grade higher for sure.

American Gangster:
I don't necessarily think this movie should have been longer, but they should have focused on different thing, in my opinion.
They focused way too much on the "Gangster" aspect of the movie. They glorified the drug trade, and other details. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a detailed movie, but I feel there were other details that could of replaced them.
I really wish they would have focused on the investigation a bit more. It seemed like they rushed at the end of the movie. I feel I barely knew Crowe's character, in fact, I don't even remember his character's name off hand.
If I could have plotted the screening out myself, it would have ended up being a 4+ hour movie(like it was originally intended to be). I would have kept everything they had, and added a lot more depth to the investigation and other areas of the movie.

I disagree. I think they focused on Crowe's character way to much. I wanted more emphasis on Washington's character.

Thank You for Smoking
Great movie. In short it's about a tobacco lobbyist and how he tries to spin the image on smoking.
8.5/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
28 Weeks Later
After watching 28 days later, i was a bit skeptical coming into watching this movie. 28days later draged quite a bit in some parts, mostly in a half-assed attempt at character building. But after watching 28 weeks later, I thought it was better than its predocessor. There definitly isn't as much suspense as the previous movie, but were suspense is missing, action takes its place. Two gripes about the movie however, one is that it was too short. This problem ties in with the next problem, very little character building outside of the family. I wished they could have told the story of the female doctor or the solider that saves them. Yes i know its an action movie, but that doesn't mean they have to skimp on the plot. However, i did like the dad character and his build up. The ending also left some untied ends and hopefully sets up for 28 months later!
Overall Rating: Solid C + maybe into the B- Range. I have to watch it again.
Final Verdict: If you like zombie movies or horror movies in general, this is a good buy. It does hold your attention through the movie with relentless amounts of zombies, piled ontop of a several tankers full of blood, all mixed in with some military conspiracy.
Next Movie to be Rated: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Fred Claus
a disasterous christmas film. It started off ok but then trails off miserably. The reviews for this film were not even too good to begin with, and I can see why. If you want to watch something in theaters wait for Beowulf or watch P2, just do not watch this film.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Jackass 2
Same concept as the original Jackass, but this was taken to a slightly higher level. I haven't laughed at a movie like I did at this in quite some time, but not only did it have a lot of funny scenes but a lot of ones that made me cringe. One thing I noticed about this Jackass compared to the previous, and the shows was that they reveal a little more of the interaction between the cast behind the scenes. Overall though, it was a great film to see with my buddies, as all of us were laughing, screaming and cringing at the same time.
8/10.

Goodfellas.
One of my favorite movies of all-time, I can't think of a part of that movie that I did not love. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci together were gold.
10/10 imo.
