Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
^^^^^^ I wasn't aware that there were so many cookie cutter Asian Horror movies, more often than not I have to give most a second viewing because I need to catch up to the plot. But I digress -
House of the Dead (2003) - Well luckily I caught it on the Sci-Fi channel this morning and didn't have to waste any money. Oh Uwe Bowl, why do you direct such terrible flicks. This movie is just bad from top to bottom, bad acting, bad script, bad pacing, and as far as the camera work goes, it's all about cheesey 360 shots around the characters. What's the plot of the movie you ask? Bunch of kids go to an island to party and find zombies instead, within the hour and a half all the kids become expert marksmen and become so close that they'd all die for eachother, and pretty much do. This one gets -5 out of 10, yes negative points. Because I deserve something for sitting through it.
30 Days of Night - However I did watch a good film last night, this one. I saw it in theatres and thought it was alright and still sort of feel the same after re-watching it. Josh Hartnett did far better than I expected and Ben Foster was fantastic as "The Stranger", had I not stayed for the credits I wouldn't of known that the same man who played Angel (X3) was The Stranger who was so delightfully insane. I wouldn't call the film scary though, all the scares are mostly predictable and only work because of the use of music, the volume literally goes from 0 to 50 in an instant to get you to jump whether you're scared or not. The Vampires were really good and the atmosphere of the small town was great. Overall a pretty alright movie, 7 out of 10.
