The Long Kiss Goodnight

This is a movie staring Geena Davis and Samual L. Jackson. It's about a house wife who suddenly starts having memories of a past life as a special agent. Slowly the special agent in her starts to come out and all hell breaks loose.

I really enjoyed this movie. I like Davis and Jackson and they work well off of each other.

Santa Sangre (1989)

A man whose confined in a mental hospital, goes through a series of flashbacks involving his traumatic childhood. What's real and what's not?

Just saw Holy Mountain and decides to check out another Alejandro Jodorowsky Classic. The least confusing and bizarre of the films I've watched of his. That isn't to say there isn't plenty of strange and weird shit going on, but the story is a little better fleshed out instead of being purely symbolic like his other films. Kinda like Psycho but on an Acid trip, this movie is terrifying and beautiful all the same. The twist towards the end is great and I really loved the soundtrack as well. There are so many haunting images in this intense and some times disturbing film it's sure to be memorable to anyone who witnesses it. I liked it better than Holy mountain but not quite as good as El Topo. Here a little review/music video type that'll give a good idea what this film's about. *Spoilers*

21- a film about six college students who become experts in card counting, in hopes to win millions in Las Vegas. A story based on true events. Starring Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), and Kevin Spacey (American Beauty). I think this film wasn't bad, it kind of reminded me of The Perfect Score for some reason, maybe because that film also involves students and scamming. I think this film was not done bad at all, I liked the performance by Kevin Spacey. Its worth a watch in my opinion.

Batman: the Movie - This 1966 picture takes our beloved duo of crime fighting, Batman (Adam West) & Robin (Burt Ward) through their most "perilous" battle yet as they take on a foursome of some of their most venomous nemesis, the Joker (Cesar Romero), Catwoman (Lee Meriwether), the Penguin (Burgess Meredith) & the Riddler (Frank Gorshin) as their ultimate scheme is to take hostage some of the world's most powerful diplomats.

Through thick and thin, you gotta be a fan of the tv show first to pick up this flick, because the amazingly long running time of 105 min., added with some of the most mind-boggling film sequences (Plastic Shark anyone?!) will not please any casual movie buyer or renter.

What I will say is that this movie is a trip down memory lane, a good way to relax on a sunday morning if you don't go to church and a nice movie to watch with a bunch of friends while downing a couple of cold ones while laughing at all the silly things this comedy act could pull off so seriously.

Pi (1998)

Max is a mathematical genius who obsesses over understanding the key to all existence. He risk his sanity and life in order to find numeric patterns in PI that have the answers.

I mainly checked out this movie because it was directed by Darren Aronofsky who did Requiem for a dream so figured it'd be great. It was also his first feature film attempt and garnered him an award at Sundance. It definitely was a lot different than RFAD, but enjoyable in it's own right. Filmed in very gritty black and white cinematography, we delve into the mind of Max whose an obsessive-compulsive, paranoid genius as he descends into madness. Very well acted, and for such a tiny budget ($60,000!)it gets it's point across. You could really see Aronofsky's style shine in this. Many of the techniques seen in RFAD are seen here and are quite effective. Sadly the subject matter didn't interest me all that much, but I'm sure people that enjoy the complexities of math (anyone???) would love this film. Even so, it's a very interesting and original movie worth checking out.

Sweeny Todd

Starring Johnny Depp

What a fantastic movie, go and buy this. Depp does a great Job, kind of a mixture between Edward Scissor Hand and Jack Sparrow. Watch it Now!

Diary of the Dead (2007)

A group of film students capture Armageddon first hand as a Zombie outbreak threatens humanity. As they race to find their families, they fight to stay alive, all the while recording the mayhem they encounter.

Ah yes the master of Zombie movies is back for yet another installment of the Dead series. With a very small budget this films delivers what most Romero fans want, and that's a bit of a throwback to his older movies with great gore, cool death scenes, and that great suspenseful, claustrophobic feeling these movies thrive on. The negative are plentiful though, including the use of P.O.V style (Blair witch and countless others) which I fucking hate with a passion. Strangely enough, after a while I didn't mind it. The social commentary as with all Romero's movies are present, but it's just way too heavy handed and obvious to be effective. The acting is average at best but I don't watch Zombie flicks for Academy award winning performances. I watch to be entertained and Diary accomplished just that. Overall I actually liked this one better than Land of the Dead but it doesn't touch the big 3 of the past. Dawn,Night, and Day.

The Darjeeling Limited

Wes Anderson's most recent film, and in my eyes his second best. The story of three brothers who are on a spiritual journey after not speaking for a year. As always the humor is fantastic and smart. The music in the film is great, Adrien Brody really, really impressed me. I haven't seen him do a comedy before and he shined. Go watch this movie if you enjoy Wes' other projects.

I absolutely loved that film as well. It was very different from anything I have ever seen. I loved Owen Wilson's rule as the sort of pushy, yet caring older brother.

Cloverfield (2008)

A monster attacks New York. All the while a group of young people fight to stay alive as the creature wreaks havoc all around them.

Probably the last person to see this, but better late than never I suppose. The shaky hand held cam technique strikes yet again to my dismay lol... BUT even though the violent almost nauseating shaking pissed me off in parts, the feeling of realism outweighed the bad. You do really feel like you're in that chaotic city fighting to survive. Great special effects, incredible action a just an intense thrill ride. It didn't explain much but I actually prefer a movie that makes you use your imagination a bit. I found it a little far-fetched at times and I think it definitely could've been longer, but overall an amazingly entertaining and fun movie. The character "Hud" was the man in this btw
