Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

21 - Stars Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, and Laurence Fishburne. It's based on a book about the MIT Blackjack Card-Counting Team, which made millions in various incarnations. In the movie it's Strurgess who plays a student in need of money who joins the team lead by Kevin Spacey. The movie is enjoyable in the first half but slows in the second as it goes into a what's right and wrong mode. If you're looking for a decent movie this week with no meaning, this wouldn't be a bad choice.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Shutter- a film about a married couple who discover haunted and ghostly things, ever since they had a car accident. If you haven't guessed by now this film is an American remake of a Thai horror film. And like all other horror remakes, it doesn't do to well. I actually think this film could have been so much better, looked good from trailers, but then again these kind of horror films usually don't get good reviews. The Asian version of this film probably nails it better than this one.

5/10

Diary of the Dead- a film about a group of teenagers who record with a camcorder a
catastrophe that involves the dead coming back to life and attacking the living. A film by the legendary zombie film director George A. Romero. I liked the idea, since the film is entirely shot with camcorder, it made the action feel realer. I did however dislike the characters, and found their acting to be somewhat unbelievable. Not Romero's best work, but good nonetheless.

7/10

Lets Go To Prison- a film about a man who gets another man imprisoned because he has a personal grudge against him. Starring Dax Sheperd and Will Arnett. Let me start off by saying this film is so very underrated. It is funny as hell, and enjoyable from beginning to end. I loved Will And Dax's performance in this film, really stellar. If you have not see this film, you need to watch it as soon as possible.

^Damn must see Diary of the dead...

The Holy Mountain (1973)

A Christ-like figure discovers a mystical guide who introduces him to 7 individuals each representing a different planet. Together they go on a journey to the Holy Mountain in search of Immortality.

Written and Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky who did El Topo which I loved. HM is easily the most bizarre and insane movie I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty. Full of symbolism about religion, death, enlightenment, and existence amongst countless other themes. This along with many 70's movies were made famous by hippies who would watch these strange movies high on LSD or the like, and while I wasn't high watching this, it sure as hell felt like it at times. I don't think I'd dare watch HM on hallucinogenic drugs in fear of my brain exploding lol. By far this is the ultimate mind fuck movie that happens to feature one of the best endings I've seen in a while. It's a unique experience to say the least and definitely not for everyone.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Saw 3- the second best Saw of all time and Tobin Bell plays his chessmaster role so well. The little snippy comments made to his would be saver throughout her encapturement is funny stuff. The way he set her husband up and his apprentice up was great manipulation at it's best.

Unearthed- Emanuelle Vanguier and Charlie Murphy team up in one of the 8 films of Horror of 2008. Nice decent movie where a woman is tortured over her accidental killing of a young Indian girl and has to lead the town survivors against some parasite type of threat.

Ghost World- A teenage Scarlett Johanssen teams up with the underrated Thora Birch and is Birch on her game or what? I love when she plays a stoic bitch.

Vantage Point - it is about the assasination of the President from many different view points. I don't want to give anything away but it was a very well done film. If you haven't seen it I reccomend that you do. - 8.5/10

The deaths of Ian Stone (2007)

Ian Stone keeps waking up in a completely different life everyday. As he he slowly starts remembering. The frightening truth starts to unravel.

A movie from the Afterdark Horrorfest 07 series. What a great original premise this was. Kinda like a horror version of Groundhog day. The execution though, wasn't the greatest, but for a low budget movie it does a well enough job to keep you entertained, especially the first half which was great. Sadly, as the movie wears on the concept as great as it is, sort of wears thin, and you think to yourself, man this would make an awesome episode of Twilight Zone, Outer limits,Tales from the Crypt etc..But they seemed to stretch it into a 1 and half hour movie. I must say though, for a low budget, the Cgi is really well done and the scares are pretty good too. Not a bad effort.

TMNT

This is the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that came out last year and I absolutely love it. I can watch this one over and over. The story was good, the acting was good and the animation was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this movie.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

^ liked the old version when i was a kid.

Die hard 4, i was pretty skeptical about it being that it was pg-13 instead of r but it kicked ass

The story-John Mclane takes on cyber terrorist bent on taking down the whole country.

The acting- it was pretty good, Bruce wasn't really as good as he was in the other but still had some cool moments.

The action- uhh he shoots a car into a helicopter, fights a chick in a car stuck in a elevator shaft, and takes on a fighter jet.

Overall- a pretty kick ass film thats really enjoyable and overall one of the best action movies in a while 9/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

The Long Good Friday (1980) - Starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren.

The story of a British crime lord who attempts to go straight with the help of the American Mafia. On the day he's supposed to seal the deal, attacks on his men and businesses force him to put the deal on hold as he tries to find who's attacking him and why. One of the best crime films I seen in a while. Hoskins is great as the over-the-top boss who hates violence yet uses it to maintain control. If you like films like Layer Cake you'll love this one.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Superhero Movie- a film about a boy who gets superhero powers after an incident on a school trip. It primarily spoofs the Spiderman movies, but there are some other spoofs. Starring Drake Bell (College) and Sara Paxton (Aquamarine). Like recent spoof movies, it is a terrible attempt at comedy. But I will give it one thing, it was somewhat better than Meet The Spartans, Epic Movie, and Date Movie. I like Drake Bell, but he probably should not have done this film. Basically its not worth the watch, films like this get the green light for a bizzare reason.
