Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Bad Santa
Stars Billy Bob Thorton who plays a con man, trying to pass off as a Mall Santa in order to rob the place. His accomplice is his elf (who happens to be a midget). Usually i dont care for Thortons work but this was an exception. Maybe i find raunch humor funny, Does that make me shallow? Anyway, if you like laughing at incredibly stupid shit this is the movie to watch.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
The Call of Cthulhu (2005)
Based on the famous story by H.P Lovecraft. Call of Cthulhu focuses on the nephew of a dying professor who was obsessed with finding out about the "Cthulhu Cult." Leaving him clues, he starts his quest to finish what his grandfather started.
One of my favorites by Lovecraft. His stories are so great but the adaptation to film usually reek of garbage with very few exceptions over the years. This is brilliantly done as a throw back to silent movie era movies, complete with B/W film using some actual stock footage from the era, and basic visual effects, most notably the actual monster Cthulhu. Think Original King Kong and you got the picture. But as for it being an adaption of LC works, it hits the nail on the head. If you like the original story you will probably appreciate the effort the makers made in being as true to the original plot as possible. But tbh you'd most likely have to be a fan to enjoy this or you'd probably sit there the whole time wondering why you have to read the dialogs and why some of the sets looks like cardboard boxes, but if you can look past that it's a solidly made short film. (About 50 min long). Extremely low budget, but made by Lovecraft fans for Lovecraft fans.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
I saw two movies so i'm going to do one post
Superbad
The story- It's about two teenagers and their friend Mclovin and all they want to do is get in the pants of the chicks they like, so they get invited to a party which one of the girls is having and must buy the booze.
The acting- was great, mclovin and the cops where great, seth and even where great also.
The funny- was pretty funny throughout the whole movie.
Overall a 9/10
Anchorman
The story- it's about anchorman Ron Burgundy played by Will Ferrel who is the top of his buissiness, then a girl who wants to be the lead named Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate gets into their newsroom and it's all fine and dandy until she gets the lead on the show. in 70's there was a lot of sexism in the newsroom and everybody wanted her out.
The acting- it's good Cristina's funny when she needs to be, Will's does what he does best, and steve correl is pretty funny and is good in every scene. Also there where great cameo's by Luke Wilson, Ben stiller and vince Vaughn, also there was some guy who looked like Jack Black.
The Funny- this movie was funny throut but didn't have that one moment where your rolling around on the floor. Also i checked out the deleted scene's and they should have kept them it.
Overall- it felt long in the beginning and was kinda corny but was a good movie 8.5/10

Josie and the Pussycats- a film about a group of girls and their rise to fame as a rock band. Starring Rachel Leigh Cook (Nancy Drew), Rosario Dawson (Death Proof), and Tara Reid (Van Wilder). This film was really badly done in my opinion, I just could not enjoy it. I can not recommend this film, because I really thought it was bad. Whats worse than Tara Reid in a film? Tara Reid on drums in a rock band.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
A very long engagement (2004)

Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, (Amelie,The City of Lost Children)and staring Audrey Tautou (Amelie). During WW1, 5 desperate French soldiers shoot themselves intentionally in an effort to go home. After being found out, they are summoned to "No man's land" a dreadful strip of land in between the waring troops. A young girl whose engaged to one of the five, goes on a journey to find out what happened to her Fiancé.
I've seen a few of this directors movies and have loved each one, especially Amelie which is one of my all-time favorites. Firstly, this is visually beautiful, one of the most amazingly shot films I've ever seen. Ever scene is a plain and simple cinematography genius at work. The score is done by renowned composer Angelo Badalamenti, so you know that's great as well. Acting wise it's fantastic, Tautou was charmingly lovable as she was in Amelie, and great smaller roles by Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose) and surprisingly by Jodie Foster who I didn't expect to see. The story is so captivating, and you can't wait to find out the truth. The war parts were done brilliantly. You really felt the desperation of the situation. It plays more like a mystery than a straight love story and the introduction of so many characters could confuse some viewers but you shouldn't have a problem if you're paying close attention. Not quite as good as Amelie imo, but a masterpiece in it's own right.

What's worse than Tara Reid in a film? Tara Reid playing an archaeologist in a film. Alone In The Dark is easily one of the worst movies ever produced. Of course it was directed by Uwe Boll, the same guy who made In the Name of the King and BloodRayne, so what is anyone expecting out of him and how in the hell does he keep getting money to make more crappy films based on video games.

indeed, Uwe Boll is the best guy to butcher video games.
Labyrinth- a film about a fifteen year old girl who wishes her baby brother be taken away by goblins. It does actually happen and she must save him from the Goblin King. The film stars the notorious David Bowie (The Prestige), and Jennifer Conolly (Hulk). This film was not at all bad for its time. I like her trail through the Labyrinth, she runs into some very interesting characters. Its a nice kids film, and I would recommend it to those who have never seen it.

The Day After Tomorrow - I liked it even if it was pretty boring at times. The special effects in the movie were excellent.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Superman Returns - This movie starts off slow, but it's overall very well done. Once the action starts, you get that heart racing extreme that Superman gave you even when you were reading the comic books. The acting is well done, and the effects amazing. This movie delivers where it was supposed to. Then comes the length. The movie does drag a bit in the beginning and the end, but overall the rather lengthy time length is justified. Overall, good movie. 4.5/5

Doomsday
I wasn't expecting much out of this movie and I didn't get a whole lot... but I did get more than I was expecting. I tend to like movies like this and I got a kick out of it. There are some parts that are ridiculous but I didn't mind it so much... it wasn't down right stupid so that's ok.
