I was a bit thrown off by the whole punks ravaging the city thing, but eh all movies can't be perfect. Could have been better, but it is satisfying enough.

It's a throwback to those apocalyptic movies like Escape from New York and Mad Max, but I kind of liked it. It was certainly the most fun movie I saw this week between the horrid Never Back Down and Funny Games.
Funny Games - A remake of an Austrian movie starring Naomi Watts and Tim Roth as a upper-middle class family whose weekend vacation is derailed when two preppy teenagers kidnap and torture them and their son. The director apparently wants to comment on America and the fascination with violence, going as so far as to have one of the teenage torturers break the fourth wall several times to address the audience. Unfortunately while doing that he forgot to make a complete movie. If you take the violence of Hostel and add disdain for the people watching it, you get Funny Games.

Night of the Living Dorks (2004)

After a botched ritual involving authentic zombie ashes, 3 nerdy school mates come back as the living dead after a fatal car accident.
I saw this title and knew I just had to check it out lol. Kind of a mix between Porky's,revenge of the nerds, American Pie, and any other silly teen comedy with a dose of Zombie goodness. Just a lot of ridiculous fun to be had in this. The story is simple but with very affable characters, cliched as they may be. Their isn't much excessive gore or anything too bad, besides a few raunchy scenes, so pretty much anyone should be able to see it. This is definitely more comedy than horror, you won't find 1 single scare but it will keep you laughing throughout.

Horton Hears a Who!- the film based on the book written by Dr. Seuss. It is about a less than witty elephant who finds a spec, filled with a whole town of beings called Who's. The town is in danger unless Horton can get them to safety. The voices of the likes of Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Will Arnett, and Seth Rogen are heard on this. Never read the book, but I found the movie to be pretty good for the family. If you like Carrey, you will probably enjoy this film.

The Big Lebowski - Best movie ever made IMO.
They pissed on the Dudes rug, and this aggression will not stand.

I saw a foreign movie a little while ago about the whole bullying/school shooting subject that was really good. It's Called Klass. A lot better than Gus Van Sant's Elephant Imo.

Hey thanks for the welcome and for the recommendation!
Yeah, I see you're from Colorado. I can't imagine how that was for you, I live in PA and it still really effected me. I still remember what I was doing when I first saw it on TV that day. A sad day indeed.
I heard a lot of people comparing "Zero Day" to "Elephant", and from what I've seen the majority prefer "Zero Day". I don't know what it is about "Elephant" but it doesn't seem very appealing to me, I'll probably end up seeing it eventually. However, "Klass" looks very interesting thanks again for the recommendation! Now I have to find it!

I have an uncle just like that character. It's my dad's brother. He was in Vietnam and has a huge gun collection and always has these hair-brained schemes worked out in his head. He's a total trip to just sit and listen to. He and I will probably some day rob a bank... I'm pretty sure of it.
John Goodman is an underrated actor in my opinion. Especially in the Coen brothers movies.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
El Método (The Method 2005)

A Corporation in Madrid Spain is hiring, and a group of candidates vying for one position are forced to compete against each other for it. All the while large crowds have gathered in the streets protesting the World Bank and IMF.
This was a pleasant surprise, it reminded me a lot of "The Man from Earth" in that the setting doesn't change much and it depends on great writing and excellent acting. All the characters are very fleshed out and as we learn more and more about them, we ask ourselves how far we would go for that perfect job. You could really sense the paranoia growing as each candidate is eliminated. Intense and interesting satire on the business world. The only problems I had were that the protest didn't really come into play much, and the ending was a bit weak. But a good watch nonetheless.

Collateral
Tom Cruise (as himself) enlists a cabbie (Jamie Foxx) goes on a one night vigilante mission to prove the truth behind scientology. One night, five pagans will die, and no one will ever doubt scientology again....
Based on a true story, by L. Ron Hubbard.
