Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Dogville (2003)

Grace (Nicole Kidman), is a fugitive on the run from the Police and the Mob. She arrives in an isolated town named Dogville, where the community agrees to help keep her hidden.

Directed by Lars von Trier, (Dancer in the Dark) Dogville will have you thinking all the way through. As soon as the first scene hits you know you're in for something very different. The scenery is non-existent. Instead of houses we see chalk outlines in what looks like a sound stage floor or something. Really bizarre almost like a play. But you hardly even notice it after the first 10 minutes or so, and it makes you pay extra careful attention to the story and actors. This movie basically is an allegory of Human nature. There's lots of different interpretations one could take from this film, and that's the great thing about movies like this is that there are no right or wrong answers, it means whatever you want it to mean. But at 3 hours I can't help but think they could've edited it down some, it drags and has very tedious moments. Definitely not for impatient viewers. But the ending, in a very sadistic way, is one the most rewarding movie endings I've seen in a long time.

8/10

Pulp Fiction

Honestly it was the first time I had ever seen the movie. I have to say, I don't see what is so special about this movie. I could deal with the jumping around. A lot of movies do that. But this didn't have a point. A couple of hit men, a crime boss, a boxer and follow them around. People get killed and the movie goes nowhere. It is the 2nd Tarrentino movie I have seen, and the 2nd I didn't really like.

Of course that's just my opinion,

I could be wrong.

(But I'm not)

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

I absolutely love Pulp Fiction and give it no less than a 9 out of 10

Collateral

I found this movie to be brilliantly written and expertly acted. Jaime Foxx and Tom Cruise are both excellent in the movie. The movie has already been described in this thread but it's basically about a hitman *Cruise* who forces a taxi cab driver *Foxx* to become an accomplice in a night of paid hits.

9.5 out of 10

30 Days of Night:

Set in Alaska a town becomes "dark" for thirty days which spawns out these vampire creatures to feed off the darkened victims. Which is based off a graphic novel.

There was a lot of mixed feelings about this film, im a sucker for these kinds of movies and I think they did a very good job really making this believable. I've got to say this movie has some of the most brutal and gory scenes in it, but being that I see a lot of these kinds of films it didn't bother me just was weird seeing this graphic style of violence again.

Id recommend for only fans of this kind of nature of movie, I couldn't see any other people enjoying it otherwise.

8.0/10

Misery- a film based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. I read the novel a couple of years ago and loved it, I just had to check the movie out. It is about a famous author who is kidnapped by a deranged fan after a car crash. I think the movie was portrayed to excellence in all honesty. The room is exactly how I pictured it, the scenes are portrayed so well. I really enjoyed this film. If you read the book, watch the movie, it will please. An interesting note, Kathy Bates won the Oscar for best actress for this film back in 1990.

7.5/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Never Back Down - About a loner teen who trains for MMA-style fights after being humiliated by the local bully at a underground fight club party. At first just wanting revenge, the teen learns through his mentor how to quell his inner demons. Of course there's the nerdy teen friend/victim of the bully, the single mother trying to help her son, the required training montage and the love interest who always gets the worst lines in the movie and only realizes her bully boyfriend's a jerk when the brooding loner comes into town. The fight scenes are OK, but the movie is predicable as hell.

From Dusk Til Dawn

One of the coolest vampire movies I've ever seen. I absolutely love it. It stars George Clooney, Quinton Tarantino, Juliette Lewis and Harvey Keitel.
