Gone Baby Gone

I'm not a big fan of Ben Affleck's acting by any means. But in his directorial debut, he blew me away. "Gone baby Gone" is the story of a little girl who is kidnapped, and a PI (Casey Affleck) is on a mission to find her. The movie was shot tremendously, and the acting was superb. I reccomond this film to everyone. There are questions asked that you will debate with the others who have seen it for a long time. Well done Mr. Affleck, well done.

8 MM - Nicholas Cage is a private eye detective that called upon to solve the mystery of a mysterious videotape found by a rich widow after her husband's death. The videotape contains horrific footage that leads many of the people involved to believe that the husband of that widow was involved in a horrendous act of murder perpetrated by a third party on a teenage girl (or so it would seem at that point in time). Cage embarks on a mission to clear out the husband of that widow's wife, touching a fair share amount of money for his troubles. This journey takes him through some of the darkest and most deranged enclaves in society. The, what I like to call, "Dark Side of Porn/Adult Entertainment".

This is definitely not a movie recommended for anyone under the age of 18, unless, of course, you are willing to live with the consequences of watching such a graphic picture. This movie is not about the actor's performances. The term actor is thrown out the window the minute you watch, full screen, the rubbish videotape. You forget all about the Nicholas Cage's and Joaquin Phoenix's of this world. I don't really know how anyone could sell this to someone as a must watch movie... even if it a must watch, the sheer reality portrayed is horrific in its own right. No horror movies can come close to the sudden urge of sickness inside of one's stomach or heart when watching this movie. It is not a feel-good flick. It is a movie that portrays the sometimes forgotten part of this world for many people and to me, this psychologically-demented thriller is a perfect example of that.

On a softer note, the Joaquin Phoenix character will bring many a laughs to the viewer throughout this film. Which is a tremendous achievement for what would have been too much of "God send" performance by Nicholas Cage. What strikes me as the most riveting part of this whole project that was put forth is the tremendous camera angles that know exactly where to look when you don't want to look.

I recommend this movie for anyone that likes to push his train of tought that much farter down the road. And for anyone that thinks they know everything, because perception is not everything, and, much like in the case of Gone Baby Gone, the truth sometimes hurts more than anything.

Seraphim Falls (2006)

A little after the Cival war, 5 men track another, Gideon (Pierce Brosnan) for weeks on end, through very tough and unforgiving terrain. Their motives unknown.

First off great acting by Pierce Brosnan and Liam Nielson, the cinematography as is the case with most westerns was brilliant. The movie starts off action packed, the audience has no idea why these men are so determined to catch Gideon and why they're going to such lengths to apprehend 1 single guy. You can't decide who to root for, it's not a clear-cut choice, and I thought it was a very interesting way to tell a story. There isn't too much dialog, but as they say actions speak louder etc, and this film didn't need to say much. There are some stretches of dull moments but the really great symbolic ending makes up for it. A very different and refreshing take on the Western genre.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)

2 brothers both in desperate need of some cash, come up with a plan to rob a jewelery store.

Directed by the legendary director Sidney Lumet (Network, Dog day afternoon)and featuring an excellent cast, this crime/thriller/drama movie will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It's a picture that uses the whole Time jump thing, where it goes back and forth. Some other movies that use this technique only end up confusing the viewer, but not this one. It's more straight-forward and very effectively done. The star of this film is by far Phillip Seymour Hoffman who continues to impress in role after role. Great performances by Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, and Marisa Tomei as well. A very powerful film that works on so many levels.

Starring Emile Kirsh

Movie is about a Young Man who is tired of the way his parents are, the way his life his and just sick of the world basically. He starts to go out on his own leaving all kinds of possesions behind, Money, ID, SS card ect...

Wow! What a fantastic Movie. When I first heard about this b4 any reviews b4 anything just knowing "the guy from The Girl Next Door" was in it I was kinda meh about it. But after watching it I just couldn't believe how outstanding this movie was. Emile played this guy so well it truley was one of the best acting performances I've ever seen. And definatly one of the best movies I've ever seen. Go and OWN this film, you will not be dissapointed

^ Great great movie probably my favorite of 07.

Chumscrubber (2005)

Upper class suburbia is explored in it's pill induced haze.

Can't really say any more without giving away the plot, but this film is just amazing in so many ways. Great performances by an incredible ensemble cast. Jamie Bell, Camilla Belle, Glen Close, Ralph Fines, William Fichtner, John Heard, Carrie Ann-moss, and Allison Janney really a talented stacked cast. This film depicts modern suburbia as a place where "things" hold more value than people, and prescription drugs virtually have your emotions locked deep inside you. Numb to the world and oblivious of anything but your "high" Just a great Dark comedy satire on society with incredibly unique and interesting characters and a great plot to boot.

8.5/10

Man Behind the Sun (1988)

Based on True events during WWII, Japanese troops round up Chinese and Russian prisoners of war and take them a secret facility called Squadron 731, where they are grotesquely tortured and experimented on to test new biological weapons.

Wow, this is definitely one movie you will only want to watch once... Some scenes in this are soooo hard to watch, particularly one scene which involves a real cat. I say "real" because even the director has gone on record as saying he used a real cat. And the using of an actual dead body for an autopsy scene. SICK SICK SHIT I tell you. If you can get past the disturbing nature of this film, it actually has a very important story to tell. I've never even heard of this facility before watching this. To think that 3000 people were so cruelly tortured and murdered for the sake of the war effort is sickening to say the least. This is not one of those campy gore 80's movies, it's not fun to sit through. There's an incredibly serious grim tone to everything, and the realism, especially for the time, is unbelievable. If you're not desensitized to violence in film this one will probably do it...

This is Spinal Tap- a rock mockumentary about a famous English rock band named Spinal Tap. Not much more needs to be said to explain the plot of the film. Some great laughs in this film, i heard it was good so I checked it out. If you have ever seen a real rock documentary you will laugh your way through this thing. Good stuff, indeed.

Fargo- its the Coen brothers, so I just had to watch this film. Everyone including my Math teacher recommended this film, and I finally got to it. Its about a man who gets into trouble with two criminals, and it leads to trouble for him and his family. This film stars William H. Macy (Wild Hogs) and Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs). If you liked No Country for Old Men and The Big Lebowski, then don't wait around, check this one out. Some people argue that it is the Coen Brothers best film, and I can see why they would say it.

Black Sunday (The Mask of Satan 1960)

After getting brutally executed centuries ago, A vengeful witch and her servant return from the dead to exact revenge on those who wronged them. They go after the witch's look-alike descendant, in order to take over her body.

Legendary Director Mario Bava's first full length feature film features some of most rich and striking atmosphere ever seen. The lighting in combination with the beautiful black and white cinematography are so brilliant in creating the Gothic foreboding mood. The backgrounds are unbelievably effective, with gloomy fog filled forests, shadowy crypts, and spider-web covered graves. Really good stuff. Barbara Steele plays duel roles and is fantastic throughout, really caries the movie. For the time it had some pretty amazing make-up and visual effects. Great soundtrack and an excellent plot make this a must see for any horror fans that appreciate the classics. And especially any fans of Italian horror.

10 000 BC

Movie looked really promising from trailers but turned out to be nothing really out of the ordinary. Couple of the action scenes were done well while others were kinda sub par. The whole story was pretty generic and boring and the emotions of the characters all seemed forced and did not flow naturally. Some good moments but a movie that you could miss.

You probably haven't seen American Psycho.

Along Came A Spider

I find this movie incredibly boring, although I've seen it many times.
