Ive seen this movie before but I just was watching it with my friend. Its a pretty good movie. I think that even though its obviously farfetched and impossible Adam Sandler does a good job in it and I think the bigger message in the end is to not take things for granted and you should enjoy every moment of living. Its a good flick

I gave Vantage Point a 7 though. I also did feel that it was getting repetitive when it switched to another viewpoint. But because of its originality I gave it a 7.

Even with the rating I gave it, I can't disagree with a 7. I totally understand that. I liked the "rewind" part of the movie but after so many times it got old. I found the movie to be very creative in that aspect. I was just expecting more from the film as a whole...and I think that's my fault more than theirs. So a 7 works for me...absolutely.

The Other Boleyn Girl - Starring Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, and Eric Bana.
Film about two sisters vying for the love and attention of King Henry VIII of England. The movie moves slower that most period pieces and it shows King Henry as a simple womanizing buffoon who can be manipulated by one of the sisters. It gets better near the end but it was too late for me to care.

Avp: Requiem (2007)

Aliens and Predators do battle in a small Colorado mountain town.

After the first AVP I didn't really have high expectations for this, and although I think it was better than the first, this movie just had too many problems. My biggest gripe with this movie was the lighting. It always seemed to be dark as fuck, and if that wasn't bad enough they threw in some rain. Those, along with the shaky camera zoomed all the way in, made it hard to see what was going on. There was no suspense, no tension at all, I didn't care when anyone died. But those points aside, I'll give this film a little love. The film makers learned from AVP that pg-13 just isn't gonna cut it. They ramped up the violence and gore and that's always good. Some really good bloodshed here and there. The other good points were the Special effects which were very effective and well done. I think this movie could've been a lot better in the hands of a competent director.

The Pursuit of Happiness - 3/5

Good movie, nothing really special but worth watching. Will Smith does a good job and the story is pretty much what you expect from the preview, dad down on his luck trying to make it at a stockbroker firm. Based on a true story too.

Zodiac by David Fincher 6 out 10

Great director Fincher tries his hand at directing Zodiac. Fincher is a great director who directed "Seven", "Fight Club", and "Panic Room".

The problem with Zodiac isn't the authenticity (it's based on Graysmith's books who did a lot of research on Zodiac).

The problem with Zodiac is the execution, it's way, way too long at over 158 minutes (about 2 hrs and 28 minutes. Wow), the characters are VERY flat and sometimes annoying. The performances were average to good but there's no real reason to be interested in the characters as there's not much depth to them. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Graysmith as a wooden boyscout almost throughout the whole movie. Robert Downey Jr. as alcoholic, deadbeat, San Francisco Chronicle loser reporter Paul Avery while funny at times is also dreadfully one dimensional. The cops investigating the Zodiac look like freaking idiots pursuing every and I mean every lead possible. I don't know if that was Fincher's intention but a lot of the characters by the end minus the Zodiac himself look like idiots. I don't know it could have been done much more differently. Some of this is of course true, in the real life case the cops had the opportunity to stop somebody who looked the Zodiac but didn't.

I also didn't like the fact that the victims were somehow made to look fools for the Zodiac. People bitch that it didn't get any Oscar nominations but in retrospect I'am kinda glad it didn't as it could have been better.

Best line in the movie:

"I look forward to the day when police officers are no longer referred to as pigs"

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976)

One of Jodie Foster's early roles (shortly after her performance in Taxi Driver), her presence and acting ability pretty much carried this film, although Martin Sheen and Alexis Smith didn't hurt either.

The plot: a 13-year-old girl named Ryn lives all by herself in a small town in New England. There's a lot of mystery surrounding why she's alone, who she is, what happened to her parents, etc. That's enough to keep you watching, as various intrusive neighbors (such as an obvious pervert, played by Sheen) threaten her secrecy. Ryn knows that she'll need help to continue living this way, but once she finds someone she can trust, things get even more complicated. All I can say is, don't drink tea that tastes like almonds, because it may not be just the almond cookies. (If you want to find out what that means, watch it yourself.)

RATING: 7/10

The Woodsman (2004)

A convicted sex offender gets released from prison after 12 years, haunted by his past demons, Walter (Kevin Bacon) tries to build a new life for himself.

Very few films tackle this incredibly controversial subject, and even less tackle from the perspective of the child molester himself. Without a doubt this movie is unsettling, thought provoking, intense, and incredibly powerful. Kevin Bacon gives BY FAR the best performance of his career, how he didn't get nominated for an Oscar that year is beyond me. Also great supporting roles by Kyra Sedgwick and Mos Def. A solid script with great dialog and a truly enriching deep character study. Slow at times but never ever boring. However you feel about the subject matter,(I hate pedos with a passion) it doesn't hurt my appreciation for what a great film this was. After it's done, the viewer must ask questions of himself/herself, which is usually a good sign of a very well made compelling movie. I think the tagline says it all: What's the worst thing you ever did?

The Bank Job- a film, based on a true story, about a bank robbery that goes wrong. Starring Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows. First off, let me just say that this Statham film makes up for his last disastrous film (In the Name of the King). This film is not about gun shooting, violence, or car chasing but it surely is damn good. It had me entertained the whole way through. People, you really have to check out this film to understand what i am talking about.

^^^^Does the Bank Job go to wide release this or next week? And you saw In the Name of the King?

Revolver (2007) - Staring Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Vincent Pastore, and André Benjamin (André 3000)
Guy Richie's latest film dealing with criminals centers on a con-man seeking revenge on the casino owner/mob boss who sent him to jail. The twist in this story is that the con-man has devised a strategy he calls The Formula that allows him to win any game of chance. If your looking for Lock, Stock or Snatch you'll be sorely disappointed. Richie was trying to put some deeper message in the film, but all he did was create a movie that annoys more than entertains. At least it's not Swept Away.
