Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
The City of Lost Children (1995)
In a surrealistic society, a mad scientist named Krank kidnaps little children to steal their dreams and halt his rapid aging process. After a group of cyclops henchman kidnapp a "circus freak's" (Ron Perlman)little brother, Perlman's character "One" goes after him with the help of a young street orphan girl.
I'm a big fan of crazy ass movies like this, and the one thing I enjoyed the most about this particular one, is that the plot unlike many other surrealistic movies is pretty straight-forward, and doesn't leave you scratching you head too much. Ron Perlman (Hellboy) was a real surprise, I didn't really expect him to be in a french movie, but he was really good as the super-human monster with a huge heart. The little girl Miette, was so adorable and also just very talented. The visuals are incredible and the FX for the time were really well done. The story is bizarre, mind bending at times, symbolic, completely original, mesmerizing, and just creative ass hell. A wonderfully made dark fairytale unlike anything I've ever seen.

The Man from Earth (2007)
A history Professor John Oldman suddenly quits his teaching job at the University. His colleagues come over right before he moves in search of an explanation. The explanation, John claims that he's immortal and has lived on the planet for 1400 years.
What a pleasant surprise this movies was. I had heard this all basically happens inside 1 house and consist of nothing but talking, so I thought this would be boring as hell. After the first 10 minutes or so I was completely hooked. The story is incredibly fascinating. I love history and hearing him tell the stories of his long life were so captivating and engaging. I realize a lot of people will hate this movie and say it's dull, but you have to view it with an open mind. It's so refreshing to see a film this good that doesn't have to rely on explosions, car chases, over-blown budgets, over payed actors and the like. It's just a simple movie, with an extraordinary tale. It provokes deep thought and challenges mainstream beliefs. People of faith be warned you will HATE this movie lol. I just wished it were longer because I could've watched for a couple more hours.

SYNOPSIS
A private detective (Cage) is hired by an elderly woman to investigate a suspected snuff film she found in her late husbands safe. Cage travels out to LA and finds the dark underside of the porno industry.
REVIEW/RATING
Well it's Joel Schumacher teaming up with Nic Cage. As those two names suggest the movie blows. Whilst I can respect that it was a novel idea it was executed terribly and makes the snuff director seem too much like an evil mastermind. It suffers from the usual Schumacher problem which is making everything far too overblown. It's not completely without merit as the cinematography is decent (At best...) and there's use of an Aphex Twin track on the ost.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Fido (2006)
Set in suburbia in the 1950's. After mysterious space dust hits earth, anyone who dies turns into a Zombie. After the Zombie wars (lol), A huge corporation, ZOMCOM, with the help of some new invention have found a way to domestic them and make the Zombies valuable assets to society.
Firstly I'll say Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite comedies of all time, and while this one is very different and doesn't offer quite as many laugh out loud moments, It's certainly ranks at least near SOTD in quality entertainment. The heart of the story is the relationship that "Fido" (Billy Connolly) forms with the little boy Timmy and the mother played wonderfully by Carrie-Ann Moss. In fact is has very solid acting all-around, a very appropriate soundtrack, and the movie also features very beautifully lush and colorful surroundings. A quirky, fun, sometimes gory, always funny, satirical poke at society and zombie movies in general. Fido often reminded me of "Bub" from Day of the Dead and I think this is sort of a homage to him, mixed in with the classic Lassie tales of the past if you can believe it, and retro 50's style sci-fi films. I don't think you have to be a Zombie fan to enjoy this one, but it certainly helps

Tomorrow never Dies
James Bond adventure film in which a media mogul manlipuates events that would lead to a world war, he benefits by being the man to bring the world exclusive sotrires etc. Brillaint script since the story moves around the 2 Bond girls. Prob one of James finest adventures

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
No Country for Old Men
Finally thought I would check this out since it was so highly regarded and won all the awards that really after watching this movie seem to mean nothing. This movie is horrible and cannot say there were any moments I liked. They had the psycho path character down pact and I thought he played his role well. Basically the feeling of no humour and not taking anything really serious even when he was shot and got in the accident he just acted all calm and stuff. Other then that though the movie was lame, the dialog was shitty. Also go all these no name actors and then Tommy Lee Jones...he seemed out of place in it but whatever. I usually like the western, serial killer movies but this one just did not do the trick...

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
your seriously the first person I know that hated No Country for Old Men
Jackie Brown- a film about a air hostess who is also involved with drug dealers and criminals. Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Robert DeNiro. This is a film directed by Quentin Tarentino, so if you like his films, this film should be no different. I think its the weakest film he has made, but it isn't bad. His films are more complex than people see them to be, so you got to pay attention to it. Watch this film, but I really can't tell you if you will enjoy it or not.

Yes actually but I thought I might like this one just cause of the genre and such. Saw so many critics rate this highly but just did not enjoy it
