Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
El Orfanato
This film is about a family who purchases Laura's (wife) beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children.
A really good horror movie, but don't expect Jason popping out with a machete or anything like that, it's more of a drama based paranormal movie. Thats not to say this doesn't have scares it does, especially one scene that'll definitely make you jump. There's this really creepy atmosphere throughout the film, and you really feel like you're there. The acting was solid especially from Belén Rueda (Mar Adentro) who was brilliant as the desperate mother seeking answers. The score is very effective in setting the mood, but that's where my only problem comes, there's really good tense buildup for a lot of the scenes but the payoff really doesn't come. A short -coming for sure, but it doesn't hamper this other wise solidly made horror movie. I wouldn't be surprised if an American remake is already in the works But overall a well-paced, enthralling, story of loss and hope. If you liked Pan's labyrinth or the Devil's backbone, you'll love this.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
The Magnificant Seven - 7.5/10
One of the true Western genre classics, it is about outlaws lead by Calvera (Eli Wallach) ransacking a small village in Mexico. The villagers finally get fed up and decide something must be done so a few of them head over the border and hire gun-for-hire Chris Adams (Yul Brynner) and six other gunmen (including Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen!!!) to defend the village. The movie is from 1960 so it does feel a little dated and somethings are corny (case in point during gunfights when someone gets shot you just hear a sound effect and see someone crumple over, it's kinda funny really) but it's still a really good movie.
Steve McQueen is awesome too so that helps.

Klass
Joosep is a 16 year old Estonian High school student who get bullied terribly, Kasper one of his classmates, decides to stick up for him one day when no one else would.
This is a very powerful film, not the flashiest production but the realism makes up for it's technical drawbacks. This film will make you relive your high school days, if you were the one bullying, the one getting bullied, or just a spectator who did nothing to help. Everyone remembers that odd kid that didn't talk, didn't fit in, and was just brutalized daily. It's no wonder there's so many school shootings. I lived near Columbine and was in school when the shooting happened, it was just surreal, we all sat in class and watched it on tv, no one said a word for almost the whole time. It was a shaking experience, and everyone had to take an introspective look at themselves after that day. I think this film did an effective job trying to do invoke some of those same feelings, and for the most part I think it accomplished just that. Miles better than Gus Van Sant's Elephant, of the same subject.

The Proposition
Australia in the 19th century, Captain Stanley propositions the brothers of a notorious gang responsible for some horrible crimes.
Wow what a great western this was, first of all the cinematography is beautiful, the Australian outback as the setting was a sight to see. The acting was solid especially from Ray Winstone and Emily Watson. The dialogs were very good, almost poetic at times, and while a little slow, particularly in the middle, there is enough action and interest in the story to keep you entertained throughout. I actually enjoyed this better than 3:10 to Yuma. While Yuma had slightly better acting and better action sequences, Proposition out does it in almost every other category imo. Not quite as good as NCFOM but still a very well-made gritty and some times brutal morality tale.

The Darjeeling Limited- a film about three brothers who haven't spoken in a year, who decide to go on a journey and find something spiritual. This film stars Adrien Brody (King Kong), Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers), and Jason Schwartzman. Let me start off by saying, this film is downright brilliant. Interesting from beginning to end, all three guys do great in their roles. Really check this out.

Psycho
A classic Alfred Hitchcock film. The movie is about a woman named Marion Crane who steals $40,000 from her boss and runs away. While on her trip, she stops at the Bates Motel and meets Norman Bates, a man who is a little too obsessed with his mother. This film is just pure excellence. The score is amazing and the acting is top notch. Truly one of my favorites. I'd recommend this to any suspense/horror fan.

No Country For Old Men
Damn, if any film should be winning the Oscar this year.
Just a quality, quality film. It doesn't need music to tell the story. Or loud noises. Or beautiful people. All it needed was a great tale, acting and a chilling as hell villain. Javier Bardem was wonderful, as were Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones. I heartily reccomend this.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
My mate bought me all 4 Die Hard's yesterday so i decided to just watch them all today.
Die Hard
New York cop John McClane gives terrorists a dose of their own medicine as they hold hostages in an LA office building.
10/10 - My 2nd favourite action movie ever after Hard Boiled
Die Hard 2: Die Harder
John McClane is forced to battle mercenaries who seize control of an airport's communications and threaten to cause plane crashes if their demands are not met.
9/10
Die Hard: With A Vengeance
John McClane and a store owner must play a bomber's deadly game as they race around New York while trying to stop him.
10/10
Live Free or Die Hard
John McClane takes on an Internet-based terrorist organization who is systematically shutting down the United States.
8/10 - Alot better then i thought it would be, it was just missing John McClane dropping the F bomb.
