Step Up 2 the Streets- the sequel to Step up, a film from 2006. I will say what many others have said, the story and script is not too good, but the dancing in it is pretty good. This film also had an appearance from Channing Tatum (the protagonist of the first Step Up). If you like films like You Got Served, Stomp the Yard, and Step Up, you will probably like this. I was very shocked to hear a song by Breaking Benjamin in this film, that was unexpected.

6/10

The Usual Suspects- a film about five guys that get rounded up by the cops, who happen to be connected and the film goes deep into what these guys are all about. Starring Kevin Spacey (American Beauty), Benicio Del Toro (Things We Lost In The Fire), and Stephen Baldwin. The film is pretty well laid out, and the acting is great. Let me just tell you, the ending is absolutely brilliant. The film had me interested all the way through, good stuff indeed. If you like good films, here is one.

Star Wars- I saw Episode 1,2,3 so it was time to check out the 4th, which happens to also be the first film made form the series. I am not too big a fan of the series, I always seem to daze off when watching these films because there is so much going on in it. I guess if you are a Star Wars fan, this film is perfect for you.

6/10

The Spiderwick Chronicles- a film starring Freddie Highmore and it is about a book that he uncovers that brings something sinister upon their house. This may be a kids movie, but it was quite entertaining. I think its a great film to watch with your family on a Friday night, check it out in theaters, or rent it when available. Definitely check it out.

Beowulf

Rating: D+. Bleh! Complete bullshit movie. Avoid the Director's Cut (and I'm sure the regular edition is probably worse) at all costs. Totally shits on the source material and the CG is some of the worst I've honestly seen. Just looks like complete shit. Shrek The Third looks like fucking Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children compared to Beowulf. Only reason this isn't getting an F- is because it's hilarious seeing Beowulf fight Grendel naked and seeing a faux Angelina Jolie naked brought back memories of Gia, Original Sin, and whatever shitty movie she was naked in.

8 Mile

-A young rapper in Detroit struggles with his anger through music.

This was the first time i had watched this in a few years, and i still enjoy it as much as i did the first time i saw it.
I had some really low expectations when first watching which could of been why i ended up loving it.

9/10

Goodfellas

-Henry Hill and his friends work their way up through the mob hierarchy.

I've wanted to see this for so long and i was finally able to get the DVD off of my friend and after watching it all i can say is WOW.
Simply amazing film, 1 of the greatest i've ever seen. De Niro, Pesci, Liotta are so incredible in this movie.

Be Kind Rewind- a film about a video store that accidentally get all their videos erased, then the employees go out and shoot it themselves, to satisfy the customers. A film starring Jack Black, Mos Def, and Danny Glover. The film is pretty good, especially if you watched the films that they remake in this film. Its a nice comedy, which is different than the norm. Watch it if you want a good time, because I enjoyed it.

30 Days of Night
I really enjoyed this one. Great atmosphere and very stylishly executed vampire-slasher. Long time since I've seen a good horror movie so this was a pleasant surprise. The acting isn't to bad either. Ben Foster does a brilliant role as "The Stranger". He's my new favourite bad guy.

Darkplace

Story about a father who locks his 10 year old boy in a "shadowbox." An ancient box meant to spiritually cleanse your evil sins Or something like that ... This movie is almost unwatchable really, just an terribly incoherent plot with some really bad acting. I almost turned it off after the first 30 minutes, but I gave it a chance, hoping it would get better, but it just never did. The director tried cramming every shitty director "gimmick" for lack of a better term he's ever seen from other movies into this one. When you rely so heavily on flashbacks/cutscenes to tell your story, it's usually a bad sign. For a supposed horror movie, there wasn't really anything scary about it, hardly any deaths/killings, just a bunch of dull dialogs and semi-creepy images. The only redeeming quality from this movie is it that it features Matthew McGrory (big guy from devil's rejects/house of 1000 corpses)in his last film before he died. Also the ending had an interesting little twist, but by then I didn't care, I just wanted it to be over already. Avoid this pile at all cost.

The Golden Compass - This is Lord of the Rings meets the San Diego Zoo. The polar bear was awesome, outside of that though, not so much. The movie should have been longer, but I haven't read the book, so I don't know if that's the whole plot. And since when was Nicole Kidman hot again? Overall, there are much better fantasy flicks out there. 2.5/5

I Am Legend
First of all, based on what I had read in reviews and what a lot of people had been telling me, I was extremely excited when I finally got to see I Am Legend. Will Smith is a FANTASTIC actor in my opinion, and I was interested to see how he'd do in an apocalyptic zombie movie. The first 20 minutes or so of the movie was great... it showed Dr. Robert Neville's day-to-day in a world where he was the last surviving human, and I thought it was setting up to be a very good movie. Then, when his dog runs into the dark building, I was excited... this is where shit was gonna start going down! Then, we get a glimpse of the zombies... instant dissapointment. Not scary whatsoever... at all, one bit... end of story. From then on out, it just became a pointless shoot-em-up, just like every other zombie flick ever made. *CAUTION: Spoilers Next* Then, when the two other survivors save him, the movie takes an even more unpleasant turn: a cliched, guy-becomes-hero-and-saves-woman-and-child kind of twist... blah.

All in all, a very promising movie wrapping around an empty shell... could've been so much better... 6/10
