Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
A wall separates an 18th century English village from the fantasy world of Stormhold. A young man ventures in to retrieve a fallen star for the girl of his dreams. I remember seeing previews for this and thinking, BAH another crappy fantasy movie trying to capitalize on the Potter/LoTr craze, but man was I wrong. I can't believe this failed so horribly at the box office, certainly it has to do with the terrible marketing it had, because I can't imagine people would hate it so much. The good thing about that, is this will probably remain a cult classic that will stand the test of time, at least I believe it will. This movie had me hooked from beginning to end. This has everything a fairly tale needs, romance, comedy, adventure, action, villains, suspense. The acting is great also, especially from Michelle Pfeiffer whose deviously evil. De Niro doesn't play a huge part, but his role is definitely something to witness. LOL I won't ruin it for ya, but it's a far cry from Deer hunter or Godfather that's for sure. Also Ricky Gervais from extras has an awesome cameo that had me rolling, in fact this entire movie was quite funny all the way through. The other great thing about it is the special effects which were done to perfection. Never did I once say, man that shit looks so fake... It does seems to borrow some ideas from other films, but its a fairy tale so that's to be somewhat expected. All in all a great movie for anyone to enjoy. If you liked Princess Bride you'll love Stardust.
edited 9.5 was waaay to high, but still a great movie.
