Date Movie

How this film was funded, written and directed with the intent to make money is beyond me. This was quite possibly one of the worst movies that I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. How the writers could possibly think that any of the stuff in that movie funny is basically ridiculous. I recommend this movie to no one, stare at a wall for an hour and a half, it could be funnier than Date Movie. I'd rather be kicked in the balls 10 times in a row, than rather watch this movie again, it is painful to watch. To anyone who has spent any money or time on this movie I pity you. I probably could have made a better movie in my backyard with my cat, then this shit that they put on a screen.

0 out of 10.
Shit.

Friday the 13th Part 2.

I love this movie. I love the whole franchise, but this one is one of my favorites. Jason emerges, and it's a some what normal Jason, not a robotic, zombie Jason like in the later movies. It has it's boring moments, but it is a scary flick, complete with good death scenes as well. I'd recommend this to any horror fan.

7/10.

That one, the first one and the third one are very scary! After that though it was pretty much bland. Scary movies suck when we start rooting for the bad guy.

The Protector Starring Tony Jaa (uncut)

Pretty good, action wise that is. The story is pretty stupid, a guy from thailand goes to australia searching for his stolen elephants. Apperantly Thai love their elephants. There was alot of random parts like a fat guy in a mud bath with a chick dancing infront in him. Pointless, tbh. The action was great, though. Tony Jaa was flying everywhere breaking everyone's arms and knocking them out, best action I've seen in a movie.

Overall: 7/10

Casshern

After a long war, with the use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, much of Earth has become uninhabitable and people have become prey to new diseases. Professor Azuma's "neo-cell" project, which is supposed to fix this, has his experiments go terribly wrong and mutants hell bent on destroying mankind escape. Azuma's son Tetsuya, who was killed during the war, is reborn into Casshern. Mankind's last hope against the new mutant threat.

Sounds pretty cool huh? well thats what I thought UNTIL I saw it so poorly executed. Now firstly let me say this is absolutely a visually stunning movie. One of the best, if not THE best I've seen, its art come to life. The cgi is flawless and beautiful to look at. The soundtrack goes great with it as they mix up all types of genres, from epic sounding orchestral masterpieces to heavy metal. Great stuff. Now where is falls WAY short is the story, which is convoluted, confusing, lacking substantial character development, and just really frustrating to sit through. The fight scenes aren't really great either, There's so much shit going on, you don't even know what the hell's happening. It also gets very very preachy towards the end. War is bad, existential questioning and so forth which isn't a bad thing but it felt really forced after a while. It may sound like I hated the movie but i actually didn't I just expected more. Overall not a bad entry into the sci-fi realm, if you liked the matrix you'll probably enjoy Casshern. Never has the term style over substance been more adequate in describing a movie.

7/10

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005) by Alex Gibney

Great documetary. Alex Gibney is one of the documentary filmmakers out there. The guy does his research on Enron without really getting into the movie and offering his own commentary (like let's say Michael Moore). Instead, he tells the story through interviews with people who worked at Enron from the Ex-Vice President, to the actual "Enron Tapes" (like Watergate), tv interviews, Enron presentations, news reports to present Enron as the corrupt corporation they were.

The movie then gets a lot of credibility for that alone and it manages to go deeper than that. For instance, it questions how the banks, lawyers, and politicians in this country (Gray Davis, Governor Arnold, President Bush) were either too stupid or involved with Enron to possibly not see through Enron's lies. So it starts out as a basic story about how Enron tricked a lot of investors and even their own employees into making millions for a select few but then branches into a very viable conspiracy connection. Again this claim is backed by many audio and video tapes by Enron traders, lawyers, bankers all who had a hand in Enron's scam to fool so many people while hurting the economy (especially California).

Likewise, when the actual hearings are presented against Enron it's great to see all these losers squirm and try to save their own hide all the while the evidence is presented right in their face.

It's a good movie too because it serves as a moral lesson of what can happen, will happen and has happened with other corporations.

10 out 10.

Yeah, the first three are definitely the best ones, although I don't mind part 4, but the rest after 4 pretty much sucked.

Today, I watched Knocked Up. Pretty decent comedy. I'd rate it a 7.5/10

Tropa de Elite

Based on true events, it's 1997 and right before the Pope's visit to Rio de Janeiro, the elite police squad, BOPE, are in charge of cleaning up the slums where the Pope intends to stay at. Really interesting subject, Rio is basically a war zone, partitioned off by gangs that run the slums. The police force is almost completely corrupt besides the BOPE. The acting is great, and the realism is perfect. I had a slight problem with the beginning as it kinda dragged, It was like We get it already the police are corrupt!!! but I guess they needed to really drive that point home. The second half of the movie was awesome. Can't say one bad thing about it. BOPE use some very, lets say harsh techniques to get info out of the gangsters, so if you're a little put off by stuff like that then skip this movie. If you liked the great movie City of God you'll love this one.

8/10

No Reservations

imdb Summary - The life of a top chef changes when she becomes the guardian of her young niece.

Meh. I was bored throughout. Not my type of movie really. Can't find a reason to watch it again tbh. 2/10
