Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Day of the Dead: Remake
Haha didn't even know they remade this, but its a straight to dvd release so you pretty much know the crap to expect. This is absolutely nothing to do with the original besides the title, it seems like it's more of an offshoot to the dawn of the dead remake, hell they even have Ving Rhames in it for a little while. Now I've seen ALOT of bad reviews on this, but really it isn't all that bad, I've definitely seen worse zombie movies.(flight of the dead ) The acting is painful to watch, Mena Suvari was just terribly miscast in this and Nick Cannon shouldn't be in any movies outside of Disney channel ones The script is even worse, the CGI is laughable, the plot is non-existant BUT as far as Zombie movies goes, all the ingredients for a fun flick are there, cheesy dialogs, some nice gore, lots of people getting eaten/blown up/ran over/getting their heads chopped off etc, so I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Don't expect a masterpiece and you should have fun watching this one as well.
6/10
Edited: upon second viewing my appreciation for this movie slightly grew, So I changed it to a 6

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
The Island
imdb Summary - The Island tells the story of a future world where wealthy citizens have the option to have themselves cloned in order to insure they have a guaranteed matching source for organs, blood, or any other replacement body parts that may be needed. While this sounds like a great medical advancement in theory, the reality is the "insurance policies" of these affluent people are actual living, breathing, and feeling human beings who have to be murdered in order for the original person to have their replacement body part. The clones are deceived into believing they are being held away due to a worldwide contamination. The only other uncontaminated place is known as the Island, and periodically one or several of the clones will "win" a lottery ticket to go to this island. In actuality, they are being killed for their organs. When two of the clones escape and learn the truth of their situation, they attempt to free the others and tell everyone they can about the conspiracy while being hunted down by those in charge at the Utopian facility from which they came.
Acting was good, but could have been better. Storyline was good, and action was okay. Overall decent film. 6/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Two Ryuhei Kitamura, never seen any of his stuff, but after these 2 I might have to check out some more. Firstly throw all sense of realism out the window and you'll love both of these movies especially with a group of friends (better yet inebriated )
Versus
Plot summary doesn't really matter . You mix Yakuza, escaped convicts, zombies, and you'll get complete awesomeness. This might be one of the absolutely most hilarious movies I've ever seen. It's basically a campy, comedy, gore, low-budget fighting movie unlike anything I've ever seen. It's a bit like Evil Dead or Brain dead in that sense but with swords/guns. Completely over the top and just tons of fun. The battles in this movie are great as well, very creatively done, just a non-stop adrenaline rush from start to finish. Don't take it seriously and you'll love this, especially if you're into action/gore/zombie movies with lots of humor.
8.5/10
Azumi
In a war torn Japan, Jiji, a gray-bearded samurai raises 10 would be assassins from childhood to eliminate 3 hostile warlords hell bent on plunging the nation deeper into war. While very different from versus in terms of plot and humor, alot of the same style shines in this one as well. This is based on a manga comic I believe so keep that in mind when you see 1 person ripping through hordes and hordes of enemies. Great battles throughout, just lots and lots killings, bloodshed that rivals a Rambo movie. The music is some times good, but during the fight scenes it goes into "cock rock" mode with street fighter like guitar play. In fact alot of this movie seems like a video game down to the main villian who looks like he came out of a Final fantasy game. But all in all this is alot of fun too. Azumi is just a complete bad ass!

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Foolproof
imdb Summary - Kevin, Sam and Rob have an unusual hobby: planning foolproof heists, without intending to actually perform them. The game goes wrong when their latest plan is stolen and carried out. Things get even worse when a mysterious man approaches them with an offer: plan a heist for him, or go to jail. As the clock ticks, they find that the risk might be higher than just their freedom.
Not a bad movie. Would be a good rental imo. Acting is okay, storyline is good, and I love how it ends. Kind of a predictable ending, but good nonetheless. 5.5/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Definitely, Maybe - a story about a man who tells his daughter three love stories of his past. I didn't enjoy this film too much, but I guess it was a good romantic film to take your Valentine to today. Ryan Reynolds is improving as an actor, and I always like him in films. This film also stars the little girl from Little Miss Sunshine, and Isla Fischer of Hot Rod. Overall, if your looking for a love film, this might be the one. I would recommend watching it when it releases on DVD.

The Matrix
Hadn't seen this movie in awhile and thought I'd check it out again. I love it. Everytime I watch it I get more and more impressed, definatly one of the best films on the 20th Century (1999 )
A+

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Zatoichi
Written, directed and stared by Takeshi Kitano. This is about a blind swordsman who comes to a town town run by sinister gangs and a powerful samurai. I expected a lot from this movie but sadly it disappointed for the most part. The characters really had no depth what so ever and the story was kind of jumbled. The fight scenes were very realistic and well done, but the crappy cgi almost ruined it. Really really fake looking blood.
*Spoiler*
The final battle between Zatoichi and Hattori was very anti-climactic and a real let down, you felt they were building towards this great epic battle and boom 5 second into it, its over...
*End spoiler*
Overall it's not a bad film, but it just lacked in many areas. I'll give it this though, they're were some really funny moments in this and the ending was something I didn't expect. (think stomp the yard Japaneses style lol)

I absolutely agree. I'd give Witness no lower than a 7.75. I loved that movie.
