Sexy Beast
Film about a retired safe cracker living out his life with his wife and friends in Spain until an old criminal associate comes to enlist him to do a heist for a London mob boss. Ben Kingsley is great as Don, a man that everyone despises and yet has to listen to, and Ray Winstone is believable as the thief who just wants to love his wife and live the rest of his life in simplicity. Good film to watch, and I think the only movie I seen that uses that dreaded c-word almost as much as Gangster No. 1.

Charlie Bartlett- a film about a teenager who fits into his new high school by helping all other students with their problems. The film is set to release on Feb. 22nd in the U.S. The film is a pretty good teenager film. The kid who plays Bartlett does pretty damn good in his role. Robert Downey Jr. is great as the principal of the school. Basically it is a simple film, that you can enjoy.

The Assassination of Jesse James

I've been in a huge western mood lately and I've been dying to see this one.

It really wasn't what I was expecting. It's more of an art type of film than your typical Hollywood film and I found that refreshing. Brad Pitt was very good in the movie but the guy who played Frank James was stellar.

The Girl Next Door

This movie was one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. Based on a true story about a girl who moves in with her aunt and he aunt treats her horrible keeping her in the basement and lets he Children beat her and rape her. Really fucked up. Thanks Rockhead for the recomendation

B-

The Nin9s

Starring Ryan Reynolds

This movie was really trippy, I can't really explain this movie without giving it away but its good and I would reccomend this movie

Hitman

As most people, I was expecting a poor video game port. It wasn't exactly that. The plot was quite solid, acting was above average, Timothy who played 47, took alot of heat for not delivering enough "seriousness", and at the same time for showing too much emotion. Can't blame him for the plot though. I don't agree with his emotion break, but he did a very good job acting as 47.

I think it should have been longer, with more or longer fight scenes. For a film like this, the undercut < 90 minutes doesn't seem to satisfy me. Some scenes were a bit over the top, as if he was James Bond's teacher. It didn't exactly ruin it however, and it did slightly add to the fun.

The holes and flaws do not take away much from the experience. It's how a game to movie adaptation should be. 8/10

La vie en rose

About the life of singer "The Little Sparrow", Edith Piaf. This might possibly be the best bio-pic I've seen just based on the performance by Marion Cotillard (who strangely looks very similar to Nicole Sullivan from Madtv) who I think should win the Oscar this year hands down. We are taken on a tragic ride of her life, through the up and downs, (mostly downs) she IS Edith Piaf, the performance is one of the best I've seen from a female actress in a very long time. Completely believable, she really poured her soul into the role. This movie however isn't perfect, it goes back and forth in time throughout, a lot of the times the switches felt very unnecessary and distracting. And also some very important details of her life are left out, which is understandable or else this film would be alot longer than it already is. So really it's no big deal. The last scene where we see a weakened Edith, hunched over like an old grandma (even though she was only in her 40's) singing Non, je ne regrette rien, (No regrets) was really touching, and alone worth the watch.

Lords of Dogtown- I waited three years to watch this film and finally got the chance to do so today. The film was done excellently in my opinion, I heard there were historical inaccuracies but that doesn't really matter to me. Heath Ledger did awesome as Skip, a drunken skateshop owner. I just loved his character in the film. Emile Hirsch shined in his role as Jay Adams, very promising actor as can be seen in Alpha Dog and Into the Wild. I was entertained throughout the whole movie. I also thought it was really cool when they had Tony Hawk (as an astronaut) fall off a skateboard, that was really cool.

In Bruges - Crime drama about a pair of Irish hitmen who come to the Belgium city for a vacation on the orders of their boss after a botched hit. This is actually one of if not Colin Farrell's best role as Ray, a hitman trying to cope with the results of the botched hit, and Brendan Gleeson is good as the other hitman. The ending wraps up everything too neatly for me, but that's about the one major problem I have with the film.

Fool's Gold - An action/romance film starring Kate Hudson and Matt McConaughey. Just imagine How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and add sunken treasure and Donald Sutherland. It's tolerable at best, but McConaughey and Hudson do have enough chemistry to keep you interested.

Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace- I watched episode 2 and 3 not too long ago, so I thought I should watch this one. To tell you the truth, I did not enjoy it too much. The story was a little boring to me, and it felt really long and draggy. I kept losing interest in many points throughout the film, but managed to watch it to the end. If you are a real Star Wars fan you will probably love it. But if you, like me just wanted to check out what the craze was about, its gonna be a hit or miss.

6/10

next movie I will review, is either Heat or The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford
