Leatherface or Texas Chainsaw Massacre III by Jeff Burr in 1990

Not a bad TCM entry at all. It's got a 4.6 score on IMDB and while I generally agree with IMDB scores this movie is a helluva of a lot better than that. It's at least a 7.

It pretty much has the same things the other movies had lots of violence, the acting was passable, and the ending well we finally get to see what happens to Leatherface family.

I consider it part of the trilogy and didn't like the remakes. My only critique is like Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning there is little to no backostory on Leatherface himself (despite the title).

Otherwise though kick ass movie. There's actually two versions out there, the workprint version is much more violent and has the original ending of the film while the Hollywood cut a lot of crap out and gave a bullcrap ending. Jeff Burr never wanted his name in the credits because he felt the studios butchered it.

Anyhow, a great viewing. I put off viewing it for a while but have to say it was better than expected.

Elizabeth- wasn't too big a fan of the sequel of last year, but I decided to check this one out because it got some good reviews. Its about the hardships that Queen Elizabeth faced during her reign. This film is not bad at all, the first couple of minutes of the film are really strong, with the burning. Now I don't know if this film is really completely historically accurate, but the film is still good.

Casino

Starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone

As a big fan of mafia films, i was really looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint.

It's about a gambling handicapper who is called by the Mob to oversee the day-to-day operations at the fictional Tangiers Casino in Las Vegas.

It contains the word 'fuck' more then any other film (422 times) except for Nil By Mouth.

9.5/10 - My 3rd favorite mafia film after The Godfather and The Godfather Part II.

Groundhog Day- a film about a mean weatherman (Bill Murray) who experiences one of the worst day of his life over and over again. I think the story in the film is brilliant. It kept me entertained throughout. I like how he changes into a better man, it was really good to see that. I think this film has to be one of Murray's best performances. Watch this film, because chances are you won't be disappointed.

Boys N The Hood- this film was Oscar nominated, so I decided to check it out. It stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Ice Cube, Laurence Fishburne, and Morris Chestnut. Basically depicts the life of young boys in a dangerous ghetto. Overall, I think this film was great. Fishburne's performance was excellent and this is probably the best Gooding film I have seen. I happen to be a big fan of Ice Cube so I was content with his role in this film, he was a badass with a gun indeed! This film stretches an important lesson, that says the youth need to be at peace, or their lives get destroyed. I recommend this film to pretty much everyone, because it is damn good. Bottom line, watch it.

Into the Wild

Based on a true story and the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer. This movie follows the journey of Christopher McCandless, a 24 year old recent college graduate that abandons his possessions and family to hitchhike to Alaska and live in the wilderness. Firstly The landscapes and beautiful scenery is enough reason to check this out. Emile Hirsch who plays the lead role gives one hell of a performance, the best I've seen all year hands down. I have no clue as to why he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for best actor .... But moving on, everyone will have a different take on him, some will think he's just a privileged slacker/brat who turned his back on everyone, while some will appreciate his search for deeper meaning. Either way the film will resonate and stay with you even after the credits role. Along his journey he meets lots of different kinds of people who all shape his life in one way or another. The Dialogs are solid, the directing is great, the soundtrack mostly played by Eddy Vedder is perfect. All the ingredients for a great film are here. The truck scene with Hal Holbrook who incidentally IS nominated for best supporting actor, towards the end, was heart wrenching and so real, you could feel the emotions the characters were showing. That scene alone was cinematic brilliance, about as good as it gets acting wise.

The Eye- a film about a girl who was blind and then gets eye surgery, and starts seeing horrifying images. The film stars Jessica Alba (and boy was she hot in it :P), and its based on a Japanese film that released earlier. Usually Japanese remakes disappoint (One Missed Call for example) but this one was entertaining. It is creepy, some of the images she sees sent a slight chill down my spine. And Alba does good with her role, I could not help but feel bad for her, because she seems so innocent. This could be the best horror film of 2008, depending on what else releases this year. Watch this if you wanted to.

I'm pretty sure I saw the Japanese equivalent of this. I haven't seen The Eye, but the Japanese film was pretty awesome. I actually got some chills from the things she sees. Might have to give The Eye a watch.

Fantastic movie. Stiller and De-Niro work fantastically well on screen together keeping you laughing for a solid hour.

Death Wish 3 - Horrid sequel in which Charles Bronson continues is war on crime, this time on a New York street gang terrorizing a local neighborhood. Imagine the original, make it cartoonish and you get this. Worse than 4 or 5, and that's saying something (how in the hell did they make five of these).
