Jackie Brown

Crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, a cast including Samuel L Jackson and Robert De Niro who put in some great performances, and Pam Grier is just so sexy in this film, the dialogue is sometimes good but pales in comparision to others as Pulp Fiction, and the story drags on a bit, but its worth a look if you're a die hard Tarantino fan.

7/10

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Another great movie. One of my favorites. You hardly get to see a western movie done in such an artsy style. It's very refreshing with a very good performance by Brad Pitt and a great performance by Casey Affleck.

I think the pacing was the best part of it. In fact, I'll go as far as saying that it's the best film Tarantino has ever done. Instead of relying on hip dialogue (although it's somewhat present in this), it goes for a more mature outlook (because of the Elmore Leonard novel, Rum Punch that it's based on). The reason why it upset people at first so much was that they were looking for Pulp Fiction Part 2 but what they got was deeper, far more mature and something that I think stands the test of time better than Pulp Fiction. It's a film that is about growing old and having to accept it.

And knowing that you can still be a badass.

Robert Forster is my main problem with Jackie Brown. I love his character, but I'm NOT a fan of his acting. Like at all.

I thought he had the second best performance in the entire film.

Dogs is better but you should definitely see Basterds.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

The Box

I saw this while browsing IMDB, and watched it last night. It's based off an old episode of the Twilight Zone and a short story from the 1970s. It's directed by Richard Kelly, who also directed Donnie Darko.

This movie never really took off. The concept is a good idea, but the pace of the movie almost ruins it. I suppose there was some moral message to the movie, but it's not quite explained what that is, if any meaning to the story. Cameron Diaz is a dud in this one, and her accent is pretty awful as well. James Marsden is the real gem of this movie, as far as acting goes.

Normally I enjoy a movie that makes you think outside of the box (pun intended). I just don't know what the point of this one was. I would recommend this if you have two hours to kill and just want to watch a movie for the hell of it.
