Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Ninja Assassin- a film about a ninja is led to a fight with a fellow ninja from his clan. Starring Rain and Naomie Harris. The film delivers well on its mindless action, and blood and gore. I mean yeah sure its lacking a strong heavy plot, but this was meant to be a crazy action film. I thought that was obvious from the trailer. Anyways, there isn't much more to say about the film, except that action fans will probably love this film. A shame it had an underwhelming opening during its opening week, I think it deserves more.

7/10

Old Dogs- a film about two middle aged business partners, who find themselves having to take care of two 7 year old twins. Starring Robin Williams (Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian), John Travolta (The Taking of Pelham 123), and Kelly Preston (Death Sentence). It started off being a mediocre family film, but kind of lost its trail along the way. I also kind of lost interest in the film along the way. Doesn't offer anything new, or you won't take back anything from watching this film. I usually end up liking John Travolta's films, but this one was definitely a miss. Spend your time watching something else.

5/10

Armored- a film about a guard of an armored truck, and his involvement with a robbery with a bunch of other men, and the problems that follow. Starring Columbus Short (Whiteout), Matt Dillon (You, Me, And Dupree), Jean Reno (Couples Retreat), and Laurence Fishburne (21). The film had a pretty interesting cast, with a pretty interesting premise. Its not out to be overly good, and its not out to win any awards. For what it was, the film was a solid bank heist type film. Far from the best kind of robbery film, but definitely not the worst.

6.5/10

Taking Woodstock
- the true story of Elliot Tiber, and how he unknowingly started the legendary Woodstock Festival. Starring Demetri Martin, Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix), and Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). A film directed by Ang Lee. I took interest in this film ever since I saw the trailer. I think it was a good tale of a festival that is very renown today. I liked Emile Hirsch in the small role he had, and it was pretty interesting seeing Schreiber as a transsexual. Solid acting, and the plot flows through. I got around to this film pretty late, but I am just glad that I did.

7.5/10

Yeah, i really need to see that.

One-Eyed Monster (2008)

I'm usually highly against giving away any sort of plot details in reviews, even ones not really regarded as spoilers (one wonders how i don't hate Ebert's reviews...) but there's no way i can explain this without giving away something.

Group of pornstars and film crew go to cabin in the mountains to shoot a film.
Surprise-surprise, they're snowed in and cut off from civilisation.

From there on it's your everyday story of Ron Jeremy's dick being possessed by aliens and trying to kill anything that moves by f'n it to death.
You guessed it, B-movie horror comedy!

The whole thing looks like it was shot for 12.50, the acting is mostly below average (since most are pornstars and unknowns) and you know it's bad news when the director also wrote, produced AND scored the thing (unless he's Robert Rodriguez), but it's actually a pretty fun little flick.
Grab a few mates, pizza and beer, and you've got yourself a night.

P.S.
Just to save a lot of you a lot of time and bandwidth, it's not a softcore porn flick.
There's a grand total of one (1) sighting of skin.
Well, unless you count the plastic cock monster...

The Invention of Lying --> One of my most anticipated movies in a while, as I'm a huge Ricky Gervais fan. Basic plot is that Ricky's character Mark lives in a world where lying does not occur and Mark discovers that he is able to lie. If you don't 'get' dry humor, it may not be for you though. Co-stars Jennifer Garner and Rob Lowe, with cameos from Jonah Hill, Tina Fey, Jason Bateman and others. 7.5/10.

Ninja Assassin - Absolutely loved it. It may be my favorite guilty pleasure movie of all time. The gratuitous violence is beautiful.

6 out of 10 for a film. 9.5 out of 10 for a guilty pleasure movie.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Up:Carl Fredricksen, a shy and quiet young boy, meets an energetic and outgoing tomboy named Ellie, discovering they share the same interest in exploration as their hero, the famed explorer Charles F. Muntz. Ellie tells Carl of her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls in South America, and makes Carl promise to help. Carl and Ellie wed and grow old together in the old house where they first met while making a living as a toy balloon vendor and a zookeeper respectively. Unable to have children, they repeatedly try to save up for the trip to Paradise Falls, but other financial obligations arise. As the years pass, the city grows around Carl's house with construction as Carl refuses to move. After a tussle with a construction worker over Carl's broken mailbox, the court orders Carl to move into a retirement home. Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie, and uses his old professional supplies to create a makeshift airship using tens of thousands of helium balloons that lift his house off its foundations. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final merit badge for "Assisting the Elderly", has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe hunt by Carl the day before. Carl never goes to the retirment home as him and Russell go on a wild adventure to Paradise Falls.

Overall: Great Disney Movie. Some parts sad alot of time funny so I suggest you watch it. I'm 19 and watched it and thought it was excellent.

9.5/10.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Brothers- a film about a brother who comforts the wife and children, of a man presumed to be dead during battle overseas. Starring Tobey Maguire (Spiderman 3), Jake Gyllenhaal (Rendition), and Natalie Portman (The Other Boleyn Girl). Been wanting to see this film ever since I saw the trailer. It delivered. Great compelling story, and it was displayed in a wonderful way. Its so sad how post-traumatic stress disorder plagues many people of the armed forces, and this film showed that. Maguire was really great in his role, especially in the closing moments of the film. Overall, one of the better films of the year, and I feel satisfied to the fullest extent with what I saw.

8/10
