Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

2012- a film surrounding the prediction of the global cataclysm to occur on December 21, 2012. Starring John Cusack (Igor), Chiwetel Ejiofor (American Gangster), and Amanda Peet (The X-Files: I Want To Believe). A film directed by a man who has a knack for disaster films, Roland Emmerich. Most of the scenes in this film are visually stunning. For the most part the film was very entertaining. I had problems with the ill placed humor, and some other situations throughout the film. The film did rely a lot on emotions, but it got to some people so it worked I guess. Overall, I expected more, but I can't say the film wasn't worth the money or wait because it pretty much was.

7.5/10

The Fourth Kind- a film about Abigail Taylor's research on her patients, that deal with bizarre alien abductions. Starring Mila Jovovich (A Perfect Getaway), Elias Koteas (The Haunting In Connecticut), and Will Patton (Codename: The Cleaner). The film was believed to be based on actual tapes of these patients reactions to their therapy, but it was all proven to be a hoax in order to promote the film. Putting the disappointment of the marketing aside, this film was entertaining. It was different than other films, as it is more of a psychological take on horror. Alien's are right down my alleyway in films, which made me a sucker for this film. Overall, disappointing that they had to lie to get it across, but a good, tense, flick.

Thought this was a poor movie to be honest and didn’t find it very funny. Was bored most way through and couldn’t wait for it to be over. no one seemed to laugh at the jokes and of the 20or so people in the cinema about 5 people walked out which I have actually never seen people do before but I really didn’t blame them. it does have a few funny moments but no much so I would suggest you don’t waist your money on it in my opinion.

I always wondered why nobody did it before me. I mean, all those comic books, movies, TV shows. You think that one eccentric loner would've made himself a costume. I mean, is everyday life really so exciting? Are schools and offices so thrilling that I'm the only one who fantasized about this? Come on, be honest with yourself. At some point in our lives we all wanna be a superhero.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Demolition man- In a futuristic Los Angeles, which has become a city where you pretty much can't even touch people, have sex with people, or cuss, a killer has broken loose and the police force is so used to the peaceful world that they have absolutely no clue how to stop him. So they bring in Slyvestor Stallone's character nick named " the demolition man", who has been cryogenically frozen for the past 22 years, to stop him.

Acting-pretty lame, but it's not like anybody could make anything of a pretty lame script/story. I did sorta like Stallone though, mostly because he's Stallone.

Overall- this movie goes back and forth between lame and decent, it's just that the parts that were lame were REALLY Lame. I don't know if they made every other person besides Stallone and Snipes as lame as possible so that you like them more, but it worked. I've never wanted to see the bad guy win so much. I did get a laugh at fining people for cussing though.

2012

I hated the limo scene in the movie. Worst scene ever. All of a sudden the limo driver turns into Michael Schumacher.

Oldboy

A man gets kidnapped and put in a mysterious prison for 15 years. He is released and given a phone and a wallet full of money, a stranger calls and asks him to try and figure out why he was imprisoned.

Awesome film and one of the best asian films i have ever seen. The lead character is played brilliantly and you will not expect the twists and turns this movie makes. I wont say much more, but seriously, watch this film. It stays with youafter its over.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

The Twilight Saga: New Moon- a film where Bella Swan is abandoned by vampire Edward Cullen, and then problems ensue regarding her safety. Starring Robert Pattinson (Little Ashes), Kristen Stewart (Adventureland), and Taylor Lautner (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl). I was dragged into this film, so it really wasn't up to me. The first one was pretty much a popular piece of crap, and while this one was better it still was pretty terrible. The acting is still pretty bad, and there are still the lame lines and scenes. The worst part was the shifty plot, which made it pretty hard for a casual movie watcher to understand whats going on. And oh yeah, the slow motion action scenes got boring after a while. I seriously hope the books are better than the films. Dakota Fanning is probably the best part of the film, in which she is involved for a measly ten minutes. You will probably only like this film if you are a teenage girl, or have read the book.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

TWILIGHT

A teenage girl named Bella moves to Forks, WA to live with her father, and soon becomes romantically involved with a vampire.

With the recent craze with "New Moon" coming out, I decided (against my better judgment) to finally watch Twilight...Oh My God....OH MY GOD!!! This is one of the worst fucking movies I have ever sat through in my entire life. I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the romantic type of movies. I didn't care for Titanic or The Notebook, but my dislike towards those movies were more out of not being a fan of the genre as opposed to them being bad movies. But Twilight??? Holy Shit. That was just painful. There is atrocious acting (I don't know the name of the actress that plays Bella, but she sucks), gaping plot holes, some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard ("We consider ourselves vegetarians because we live off the blood of animals" WHAT?!?!?), and some down right sexist overtones. What I learned from this movie is that girls apparently enjoy being stalked (no him watching her while she sleeps isn't the slightest bit creepy), bossed around, & threatened with abuse. So congratulations movie. You just set women back 50 years.

1/10 Awful awful awful.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

2012

Just got back from the cinema.

Roland Emmerich just opens his "Big Bag of Disaster Movie Clichés" and starts throwing them about with no consideration whatsoever.
It's an overblown, ridiculous, seen-it-all-before behemoth of a movie, filled with nonsensical technobable, plot holes and an effects budget that towers high over several small island nation GDPs.

Get this though: it's fun!

I laughed my ass off in the limo scene, got more than enough bang for my buck (quite literally), laughed at the endless parade of clichés (THE DOG LIVES! [/spoiler]) and watched Woody Harrelson be all sorts of awesome as the resident conspiracy theory nut.

Yeah, it's not a masterpiece, but not everything tries to be Minority Report or something of that magnitude.

End of the day, i had a thoroughly fun time at the movies, and that's all that matters.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Precious- a film about a girl with a very troubled life, a violent mother, and two children that were a result of **** by her father. Starring Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique (Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins), and Paula Patton (Mirrors). I wasn't initially interested in this film, but under circumstances I ended up in a theater, and thought I would watch this film. Its a pretty solid film from beginning to end. An eye opener in terms of seeing the struggle that some unfortunate people have to endure throughout their life. Its a very good film, could be a bit too much for some people but definitely worth the money I spent.
